Converge have announced Axe to Fall as the title of their new album. It’ll drop October 20 on Epitaph.
Not much else is known about the record right now, except that a) Genghis Tron’s Mookie Singerman does guest vox on one track and b) it is going to be awesome. I mean, maybe it won’t be awesome, but if that’s the case, it’ll be the first not-awesome Converge album, um, pretty much ever.

Thirded. I’ve never really liked much hardcore, regardless of how good they are, and I have a tendency to confuse these guys with Coalesce (I think it’s the name). It just doesn’t do much for me.

Why is there hardly any METAL news/reviews anymore on this site? Its all just breakdowns and haircuts one after the other, each band gayer looking than the last.

I’m pretty certain I haven’t heard what you’re likely referring to as a breakdown on a Converge record since the 90’s. You provide yet another example of an uninformed, cliche and pompous “metal head” who seems to think that just cause Converge spearheaded the metalcore genre that they are somehow exactly like the bands who spoiled it.
Metalcore or not, they still suck.
You sir, are an asshole. I keed..but I’d like to point out something. To me, metalcore is an exemplified by bands who have no ties to either the metal or hardcore scene, but borrow extensively from both. Hardcore with a metallic underpinnings is a different animal altogether. Converge is, and always will be a hardcore band.
They’re not even a hardcore band anymore. They’re just Converge. And thats good in my book.

I can live with that. It has just always irritated me when metallic hardcore bands get lumped in with “metalcore” bands. Totally different things IMO.

I’ve heard it. It’s fucking amazing. The first track had me wondering if it was possible for an MP3 to play at the wrong speed – it’s seriously one of the most furious things they’ve ever done. For a few seconds it sounded like Disfear, until Bannon’s vocals came in.

My only hope with this record is that they attempt to revert to the more metallic stylings of Jane Doe. No Heroes and more so You Fail Me, albeit astonishing records, both veered off towards a more mid-80s hardcore punk sound with the typical Converge ferocity. It’d be nice to see an album with a deeper and more consistent bottom end this time, but I’ll except and likely worship anything these guys do whether I get what I want or not.
Just as a thought, there are quite a few people here with no pulse. I, however, have a pulse, am stoke, and hope to see them in Dallas with Mastodon and Dethklok.
