Honestly I think it's great that they kept it. It shows that they haven't let the standards of the band slip after almost twenty years. They keep the theatrical aspect of their performance in mind, which in this day and age is crucial for a band. It's one thing to be able to pop in a cd and love the music, but it's quite another to be able to see a band live and be truly entertained by both sound and sight on stage. (They were the best band at Mayhem Fest by far, not only for their performance but also for the fact that they so openly enjoyed what they were doing). The videos are perhaps the greatest testament to the corpse paint. In my opinion Behemoth are single handedly bringing brutal metal and theater together. Overall, the corpse paint is a good thing. But the paint doesn't make the band. It's taken Behemoth years of struggle to finally make it to where they are today (They've been playing since 1992 I believe, with many line up changes). The paint didn't do it for them. The music and perseverence did. If anything the equally good bands you were talking about need to take a page out of Behemoth's book and work their asses off to make it.
