THEM CROOKED VULTURES BUZZ ABOVE YOUR HEAD
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 at 11:30am by Vince NeilsteinLast month I reported on the tantalizing supergroup combo of Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and John Paul Jones. In the past few days that post has become tremendously popular, either because ya’ll really want to know about this group or because my headline of HOMME + GROHL + JOHN PAUL JONES = BONER is attracting people curious about the dick size of the aforementioned men. But we’re pretty sure it’s the latter, because the supergroup, now dubbed Them Crooked Vultures (how fucking perfect is that??) made their live debut this past Saturday evening at a Lollapalooza afterparty to a sold out crowd at the Metro in Chicago.
The Internet’s a buzzin’ with news and speculation about the band. I’ve seen no less than a dozen Facebook/Twitter posts; Spin.com has a list of funny things overheard at the show; Blabbermouth has a 30-second teaser of the song “Nobody Loves Me And Neither Do I” which I’ve re-posted below. Pretty much any excuse to talk about this band… oh wait.
No word yet on a release date for an album. Check out the teaser clip below… it sounds pretty much like you’d expect it to, which is a great thing.

I’m going to need more before I can actually have an opinion, but so far it sounds promising.
I don’t mean to be a drag, but if it was the latter then we’d all be excited about their dicks. It’s the former you’re talking about.
Well this can’t possibly suck. My only question is, why don’t they just call it QOTSA? Since Grohl has been in the band before and QOTSA’s lineup is a revolving door anyways (especially at bass). Maybe their sound is just completely different from QOTSA… but I kind of doubt that.
Agreed, I have a soft spot for Queens of the Stone Age, I pretty much dig everything they have come out with, this will most likely kick Revrant’s ass.
I would imagine Josh Homme is approaching it with a different mindset than his QOTSA material.

If they really want it to be a supergroup, they should add Mike Patton on vocals.
That would be awesome. Hasn’t Homme tried to get Patton to work in his studio out in the desert? I thought I read that here months ago. Anyway, the teaser sounds like QOTSA, which isn’t a bad thing to me. But I wonder, if the whole album will sound completely different from this? Guess I’ll just have to wait and see.
I think Patton’s busy with that whole Faith No More reunion thing.
Patton and Homme do have an upcoming project together.
