GLENN DANZIG DID WHAT?!?!

Last night a reader known simply as “Tim” e-mailed us to say that Glenn Danzig played drums on Hollywood Undead’s Swan Songs.

Needless to say, I was flabbergasted. Was this true? How come no one had said anything ’til now? So I investigated…

…and honestly am still not 100% certain that this is true. Wikipedia says it’s true in both Danzig‘s and the Swan Songs entries, but Wikipedia obviously is not the most reliable source. The usually more-reliable All Music lists some impressive drummers as having contributed to the album (Josh Freese and John Tempesta among them), but makes no mention of Danzig.

So can anyone definitively confirm or deny? This is a pretty serious accusation, and I’d hate to bust Danzig’s balls if it’s not true. Then again, if it is true, should we all forgive Born of Osiris for not knowing who Danzig is?

look at the “themes” listed on all music for this album:

    Guys Night Out
    Party Time
    Drinking
    Playful
    Mischievous
    Cool & Cocky

no wonder i hate this “band” so goddamn much

    • Fufkin

Cool & cocky? Well that’s Glenn alright

you left out “doing coke off of hooker penis”.

  • http://themusichaven.net LEFTOVER BLUNTS

I think the real question is would he really lower himself to record with Hollywood Undead?

  • Tommy Lindbergsen

speaking of midgets with lisp angst….

The only album from Danzig I actually like is Blackacidevil. Which isn’t saying much.

    • http://hookinmouth.net Hook In Mouth

Blackacidevil? Really? That was the downfall of Danzig. 1 through 3 and maybe a few songs on 4 are the best.

      • stu1

        Yeah

bro, i could not get enough of “sacrifice” when i was 15.

Why should we forgive Born of Osiris for not knowing who he is? If this is true it makes even less sense that they wouldn’t know of him. Those kids are morons and deserve no forgiveness. Of with their heads.

  • Metal Fuckin’ Dave

I’m more pissed that Tempesta contributed to this.

  • Canvas Of Flesh

Fuck Born of Osiris, Hollywood Undead, and Danzig.

    • Ziltoid

Why am I not surprised that I agree with Canvas once again?

      • Uglymicrowave

i agree with that statement as well…why the fuck is hollywood undead all over this fucking site?!

WE should now CHANGE THE NAME of this site to….

        Stuff you will Hate SUCKS.com

      • Canvas Of Flesh

Probably because I’m an absolute genius and whoever agrees with my opinion is, themselves, a genius.

  • http://raiseyerfists.wordpress.com raiseyerfists

    Does Danzig even play drums?

I guess Danzig does whatever the fuck he wants.

    • You Bore Me

Perhaps not well, but it is rumored that he played all instruments on Legacy of Brutality. I dunno whether this is true or not, but given his reputation as a control freak, it wouldn’t surprise me.

      • http://pandasdestroy.com Greg

Yes, Glenn plays drums. He recorded drums on many of the Samhain tracks, and “Who Killed Marilyn?.”

        • bagel

good to see that yall know each other on a first-name basis.

          • http://pandasdestroy.com Greg

Now if only he’d return my calls.

  • http://Www.hibernum.net Hibernum

Well, I can’t answer the original question. But if it is true and he can play drums, doesn’t that make him some sort of musical savant or polymath? Granted a musical genius with Terribles tastes at times. Drumming for these losers? From the same guy who wrote the Johnny Cash song 13?

  • josecarnage

    BORN OF OSIRIS!!!!

  • Frampler

Hollywood Undead are despicable, truly despicable. The sooner they all die, the better.

  • Porkspam

Dahnny Lohner (formerly of nin) was paid alot to produce this cd, or a few songs anyway.. any he got josh freese who’s a session player anyway, to do some tracks and same with tempesta. No danzig though. Besides he’d have to get those shoes with the little boxes tied to the bottom like short round in the 2nd indiana jones movie to reach the pedals.

  • Jonathan

My ex showed me one song by HU. It was MODERATELY listenable to because it’s a metal/rap mix, and though I despise rap, the lyrics spoke to me. So perhaps I’m partial to identification. And perhaps only so because it was “My Black Dahlia,” and oh, how I respect The Black Dalhia Murder. But except for maybe one or two things they’ve written, they are absolutely terrible, and it’s only because the guy has a damn-awful whiny voice that so many of my fellow teens like (ick). Like MCR and RJA and that shit. I doubt Danzig would lower himself to this unless he was paid a huge fucking amount. It’s despicable how these guys have remained in the top 200 for so long.

  • Benjamin

I saw the you tube video of Danzig getting knocked out.

    It was pretty cool.

  • tyler09

idk but their touring drummer was sweet

    • Nate

If you’re serious and you just said anything about hollywood undead was “sweet” go fucking kill yourself and get THE FUCK OFF OF A METAL WEBSITE.

  • groverXIII

Danzig went downhill once he left Misfits. So did Misfits, actually.

  • Sean Pulatie

I can’t believe I’m the first person to fucking point this out.

Your “research” for this story was to go to Wikipedia? Seriously?

By the way (HOLY SHIT! I TYPED IT OUT!), if you’re in the dark on Wikipedia, allow me to explain. Wikipedia is a great idea, to be honest. (HOLY SHIT! I TYPED IT OUT!) It’s an online encyclopedia that anyone can edit. That great idea is also Wikipedia’s biggest downfall. I have no knowledge whatsoever of brain surgery. However, if I wanted, I could edit the portion of Wikipedia under “brain surgery”, without knowing a damned thing about it.

In other words: If some doucheturd wanted to say that Glenn Danzig played drums for Hollywood Undead, or Josh Freese, or fucking Boba Fett, he could.

In other words: If you’re going to report on a story, don’t admit to going to Wikipedia, even if you cover it up by saying it’s “obviously…not the most reliable source”.

    • Ben

Way to fill everyone in on information that we all already knew. You are officially LESS useful than Wikipedia.

Also, your stupid, “(HOLY SHIT! I TYPED IT OUT!)” bullshit. Whoop dee fuckin doo. I type that shit out all the time. I don’t feel the need to point it out as though it’s going to earn me a blow job or something.
