MIKE PATTON: STILL FUCKNUTS

Did anyone else have the Faith No More Video Croissant VHS back in the day? It was a collection of all the band’s music videos up ’til that time (through Angel Dust, if my memory serves correctly) interspersed with band interviews. One of said interviews was Roddy Bottum recalling a time when FNM were doing a support stint on the Guns N’ Roses/Metallica stadium tour; apparently someone threw a bottle full of urine up on stage, and Mike Patton decided to pour said urine all over himself. That’s not quite as bad-assed as the members of The Black Dahlia Murder drinking urine – as they claim to have done on their Majesty DVD – but then again, BDM did it by accident, Patton did on purpose. So I think Patton wins the “batshit crazy” award.

Not quite as batshit crazy but still at least bird poop nutty: this video of Patton swallowing a shoelace from a sneaker thrown on-stage during a recent show in Budapest. Why would he do this? To cement his reputation as one of the best front men of the past twenty years? Because he has an actual chemical imbalance? Because he was just really hungry? Who the fuck knows.

Meanwhile, FNM still have yet to announce any U.S. tour dates. I’ve heard people closely connected to the band speak with confidence that the dates are forthcoming, and I’ve heard people closely connected with the band swear that Patton is being a pain in the ass and the dates won’t happen. Let’s hope the people in the former category are correct.

    I am not a doctor, so I don’t know if this is true with people; but with cats and dogs that would certainly cause and obstruction and would require surgery to remove, otherwise the animal dies.

      he coughed it up, and made some sound effects whilst doing so. much to the revolt of a large portion of the festival crowd. fyi: Sziget festival, where this gig took place, is a cesspool off hippies. All the more fun the sane people had with Patton’s stage antics.

      Probably the best show i’ve seen in years. Aside from the weird regurgitation and slapping people in the audience it was a truely amazing gig. They were playing so tight, you’d think they had never broken up. Amazing.

    Thats amazingly strange but it makes for an interesting show, Pattons always been one of the best front men ever in my opinion. Only 8 more days to wait till leeds festival, the lineup mainly sucks but faith no more are there so i couldnt give a shit.

    I was at this show. First off: it was fucking killer! Second off: there’s another great bit where Patton slaps Hungarian fans in the face when they refuse to sing a FnM lyric in Hungarian.

    Oh, and don’t forget the part where ol’ Patton picks up a pair of panties thrown at his feat and wears it over his head (skidmarks to the front) before singing on.

    It was a weird, weird but AMAZING show.

    Still no US date huh? Not to rub it in too much after the whole Slayer/Megadeth doing the same thing but…..FNM have announced they’re playing the Soundwave Festival in Australia in Feb. Maybe the US after that???
