SATURDAY SONG TO GET STONED TO – CONVERGE, “GRIM HEART/BLACK ROSE”

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009 at 12:01pm by

Obviously, the style of this song isn’t exactly de rigeur for Converge. Maybe that’s why it’s actually my favorite song off of No Heroes. In any case, I find it to be a very emotional song, and a great song to listen to when you’re high.

There’s some more material that’s kind of along these lines on Axe to Fall, by the way…

Well I guess this is better than your Led Zepplin garbage. Pussies. I am listening to Foetopsy now and am too hung over/pissed to listen to your jeffeerson airship. Oh yeah look for the Entombed sample on Jane Doe.

Hey, don’t go on shitting all over Led Zep, they’re the ancestors of heavy metal.

Hey watch how you talk about Jefferson Starship too…that paved the way for the Alan Parsons Project which I think was some kinda hovercraft…

“Grim Heart/Black Rose” is certainly enjoyable, but “Plagues” turns your brain into fucking mush. It’s a quintessential Converge track that leaves with nothing left when it’s all said and done. And a great opener at live shows.

anyone who digs this track should really check out only living witness

    • jackattack

i’ve given them a few listens before. good shit.

This is one of my favorite songs by Converge because it’s one of the longest songs that they’ve done, the only song that doesn’t feature Jacob on vocals(not saying I don’t like his vocals,it’s just trippy to hear someone else sing a Converge song) &i it got my gf into them.

have you heard their cover of the cure’s “disintegration”? it’s pretty amazing.

      • badluckfistfuck666

Yeah, that’s another fav. of mine.Pretty much that entire The Cure tribute album is rad

the other night i smoked salvia & listenend to this. nice coincidence.
& if ‘axe to fall’ has more tracks akin to ‘grim heart/black rose’, itll pass up ‘jane doe’ for me.

Hmm, I don’t think this album has leaked yet. If Deathwish sent out any promo copies they surely would have been uploaded already.

    • jackattack

Axl has already heard a few of the songs. He pointed that out a few days ago. And Converge’s albums aren’t actually released on Deathwish. They’re on Epitaph.

      • Incandenza

        I stand corrected!

epitaph has digitally watermark the album and is streaming it through their own media player for promo right now. basically making sure it won’t leak. it’s awesome, prog as fuck/like this song as fuck.

    Converge? Ack……

  • atomicgarden

    Finally!!!

Such an awesome song. I’d definitely say this is my favorite off of No Heroes as well, caught me off guard when I first listened to the cd.

  • Tanner

Thats the first listen ive given to Converge. REALLY dug that tune. Thanks! Even more amped to catch them along with High on Fire, Dethklok and Mastodon!

  • iAmAsteroid

My only beef with “Grim Heart/Black Rose” is that some of those opening lyrics are a little bit cliche- even for a Converge song. Other than that, the last 3 or 4 minutes are equal to “Jane Doe” in terms of emotion and heaviness for me.

  • DecrystallizingReason

Yes I am listening to this, yes I am fucking STOOOOONED, yes this is a good way to end the day. OUT.

  • Tommy Lindbergsen

My albums this weekend will consist of Scar Symmetry-Holographic Universe, Devin Townsend-Terria, Behemoth-Evangelion, and The Crown-Deathrace King.

Time to power up the 360 and hide from the sun.

Orphaned is still the best track off the “no heroes” album. Damm this band rocks hard though.
