NEW BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME TEASER NOW AVAILABLE!

Monday, August 31st, 2009 at 12:27pm by

As reported earlier, BTBAM announced via their Twitter account last night that they’d be posting an album teaser today for their new record The Great Misdirect (October 27th). Here it is, on their MySpace page. It’s nearly 6 minutes of music sampled from the album’s 6 songs, although since each BTBAM track is like 10 songs in one it’s kinda like getting to hear 60 new BTBAM songs… or something.

First take… it’s awesome, and it sounds like BTBAM. A lot of Dream Theater-y guitar work and a whole lot of other cool shit.

Go listen. Tell us what you think.

dude shit is soo fucking sick!!!!

    cannot wait for this record

I’m gonna cum my pants when this cd is in my hand

    • Canvas Of Flesh

Wow. Hopefully you do your own laundry.

      • \m/Eluveitie\m/

No one on the planet who says “dude shit is soo fucking sick!!!!” does their own laundry.

  • FranticDav

Now the real deal is if this album is better than Colors. If so, color me surprised. :P

  • Ryan De La Rosa

I will probably the only one to say this but… fuck that.
I really dont care. btbam used to be one of my favorites but colors sucked
and this new death/dream/coreprog of an album will suck too.
    yay for dream theater worship?

    • Jimmy

“btbam used to be one of my favorites but colors sucked”

What is this I don’t even

    • Leprosy

      Is that even english?

  • http://john@metalsucks.gov John

Or…. you can listen to the new Megadeth album that just leaked. Oh, the decisions.

    • groverXIII

‘Endgame’ is pretty great… I need a few listens before I decide if it’s better than the last couple of albums or not. I’m leaning toward yes so far.

    • Jimmy

BTBAM get my vote any day.

  • slave_screams

Colors was probably my favourite record of 2007 and from what I have heard from the teaser, this album will not disappoint – Paul Waggoner is one of the most tasteful guitar players I have heard, just enough widdle-dy widdle-dy without it becoming one dimensional

  • Me

I mean I like it, but I hate teasers. For bands like BTBAM, they just don’t work. Colors was great not because of single riffs but the context of those riffs in long ass songs. Impossible to tell with this kind of music whether it’ll be good. Excited nonetheless.

  • ZapBranigan

    Fucking myspace block at work.

    Stoked for this album.

    • Colin

Can you use a proxy server?

Hard to form an opinion based on that clusterfuck, but it sounds promising. And I’ll be the douche to say this: In what universe is 4 minutes, 7 seconds “nearly six minutes?”

    • http://www.myspace.com/1033metal Jackson

thats exactly what I was thinking (on both parts)

      • timmah

        thirded.

        • timmah

though to be fair i was overrun by the randomness of it all before i reached the 4 minute mark…6 minutes is just overkill.

i am excited to hear the whole thing though. In order.

          • (required)

Oh, I agree. Don’t care to hear six minutes of randomness. That’s what Fantomas is for. I’m just wondering what system of rounding arrives at that result.

  • cink

    stunning.

  • groverXIII

Sounds great. Can’t wait to hear the actual songs.

  • alliaphagist

hah. well there’s a lot of notes. Can’t really tell a thing from it. But I’m still looking forward to it.

  • myke

ahhh such a cock tease!!!!! can’t wait for this 1.

  • Viridian

Quite nice to hear it come together after watching the studio videos and it will be an album to buy the day it comes out. Colors will be hard to top and it will take a few listens to see if The Great Misdirect can measure up.

  • builtforsin

BTBAM is probably the worst band for teasers, all their newer material requires a full listen. Either way, this will surely slay.

  • Kye

Parts of it were cool. The segment where Tommy did that sort of hardcore-ish scream instead of his usual growl was pretty sick. I prefer it to his typical, emotionless vocal approach.

That being said, i can’t really tell much else from it. I’m sure it’ll be good and it sounds more interesting than Colors.

I dunno about anyone else, but I really wish this band would embrace their progressive and melodic sides more than they have in the past. I’d like to hear more variety from their usual formula.

    • Ryan

      Have you LISTENED to Colors?

    • Jimmy

I think that was a guest vocalist, like how Fear Before’s vocalist was in Prequel to the Sequel

  • Marc

That sounds bad ass! Thanks for opening my eyes to a new band vince!!

  • http://infinitybasement.wordpress.com Jon

    mmmmm… BTBAM. *drools*

  • PD

They could have released 4:07 of samples from the Hanson discography and I’d still be lying on the floor in the fetal position muttering “Is it Oct. 27 yet?” every few seconds.

  • Ziltoid

    What is this?

I hear Dream Theater worship at some points, and a lame attempt at heaviness at others.

    I name this genre Theatercore.

    • \m/Eluveitie\m/

And while you’re at the theater you can get some popcore.

      • Ziltoid

        moar liek “popKorn”

        <_<

    • slave_screams

No doubting the Dream Theater influence, based solely on the clips its more prominent than I would have thought; I wouldn’t consider it necessarily a bad thing, as I like (some of) DT – you can hear a strong Opeth presence as well; as for the ‘lame heaviness’ comment Ziltoid, you obviously aren’t familar with their back catalogue; they were doing the ‘lame heaviness’ thing long before the endless procession of metalcore bands were trotted out, and better than 99% of them

      • Ziltoid

I know that they’ve been doing the “lame heaviness” thing for their whole career. I just thought that they might have realized that it might be a good idea to ditch it. I guess not.

        • lawl

          Not enough acoustic devil worship?

          • Ziltoid

            Exactly

        • groverXIII

          Too popular for you, eh?

          • http://uponwingsofblack.blogspot.com/ \m/Eluveitie\m/

            Bingo

          • Ziltoid

            Too crappy for me tbqh.

    • (required)

Ziltoid the Pretentious has spoken. This genre is theatercore, and will be hated by the masses… which makes it totally possible that he might begin to like it.

      • Kill All

Theatercore…ehhh, every since Ziltoid ran the site on Friday, his attempts at humor have failed epically.

Zilty, it’s time to go back to the drawing board and work on some new material. Don’t want the well to run dry, ya know?

        • Ziltoid

          <_<

I was poking fun at MS creating "Sumeriancore" and parading that stupid tag all over this site, not trying to be "clever" by combining Dream Theater and -core.

Read past the words next time.

          • http://www.myspace.com/1033metal Jackson

sumeriancore has been around much longer than MS has been using it

  • Tim

Some great moments, looking forward to experiencing the whole thing together.

  • X.Y.Z

This sounds retardedly good. Like, metal-album-of-the-year good.

  • Mynamesucks

    Still no album cover?

  • Spwee

they actually do read my emails lol

  • esteban

You can’t fucking listen to a BTBAM album without listening to it in its entirety, so how the fuck am I suppose to know if these songs are gonna be good with just clips?? :(

This probably won’t top Colors but these guys are too good to drop a turd on us.

  • http://myspace.com/grobiwunder grobi wunder

There were like 1.5 seconds from 2:20 onward that sounded EXACTLY like Fantomas.
I’m pretty excited about this, maybe even more so than next DTP installment.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Byron-Ward/797615124 Byron Ward

Super excited… wasn’t much to go on… but from what I’ve heard, I’ll be there to pick it up on release day….

  • http://www.myspace.com/1033metal Jackson

I really would like to hear them experiment more with the tom waits style stuff they did in prequel to the sequel
