It’s really difficult to classify them, but a friend and I came up with something that pretty much nails it. If Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath had a child, and u gave that child excessive amounts of hallucinogenic drugs, that would be Bigelf. Agree?

I checked out Bigelf not long ago after you guys wrote something about “Progressive main-stays, Bigelf” or something like that. I thought to myself, I’ve been looking for some progressive music. So I looked up their MySpace. I listened to the song “Counting Sheep” and have been hooked ever since. I guess I have to be one of the people who says thanks for covering them because, if you didn’t that one time, I probably never would’ve heard about them.

Great band… they manage to take a fairly straightforward genre (stoner rock) and mix in psychedelic stuff as well as some heavy Pink Floyd, Beatles, and King Crimson influences.

Yeah, I could tell right away that Bigelf was my kind of band. Thanks for covering them here on metalsucks, frankly I am fucking surprised! Pleasantly so.

I am sure it’s been said, but I feel like the genre thing is in response to the fact that everyone and their brother has better access to play and record music now, and so the volume of things to try out and have access to for the listener is completely untenable huge, so you have to tag everything to know if you even want to try to listen to it, because there are just not enough fucking hours in the day. So instead of genres I guess I would like to think of it as tags and you can apply as many as you want to something, so that flags it for a potential listener as something to check out.

I hung out with Damon and Ace a little bit after the Walligford CT show, theyre pretty fucking chill if I do say so myself. Damon wouldnt give me his hat though :( THAT HAT IS SO DAMN COOL I WANT IT!!
