The first song I ever heard from Godsmack was Awake, and it is the only song I ever liked. Voodoo got old quick, and they went and made a fucking Voodoo Too. Every fucking song they come out with just sounds the same to me. So what do they do, go and make a song “Crying Like A Bitch” to get back at the Crue. Smart guys, real smart…this isn’t fucking rap. If anyone sounds like they’re crying it would be the band who has to go make a fucking song about it.

Motley Crue, like it or not are legends. Like someone already said if they’d bothered to read The Dirt they’d know that’s how they are. That’s not saying of course that they are far past their prime and do indeed need to just retire.

All that being said, don’t go on fucking tour with someone then get mad at them. They just made you a shitload of money from all the concerts you played with the bands they had there, which of course was probably 2-3x the amount you’d have at a concert just headlining yourselves.

every song i ever heard by them was something about “away” this or “away” that,every damn lyric…”im not the one whos so far AWAY”….”do like i told you keep AWAY from me”…”doin the best i ever did,go AWAY”.. the other one sounded like away but was “AWAKE”,but close enough cuz it still says “away” in the word

i cooked at a chilis for awhile in eugene,or. and they played the shitty construction rock station that played all that shit back in 2003- a banner time for the construction rock genre with stupid bands like saliva,puddle of mud,and creed also doing well among guys with tribal armband tattoos

I did an interview with Sully back when they were on tour with metallica. He was a total piss ant jackass. I pissed him off by asking what he thought about some in the media saying they just keep on regurgitating the same songs over and over lol. I wasn’t asking, I just wanted his opinion and he flew off the handle and stopped the intervew. The tour manager demanded my video tape and I was deprived of my passes and tickets. Luckily I had a hot chick with tickets of her own that was waiting for me outside so I got to see metallica that night. What a douche!

Well, Godsmack wouldn’t have had the chance if Layne Staley didn’t off himself with fucking Heroin. The fucking tribute band took over and their first album was something very similar to AIC’s sound.

Finally, to all you Metalheads in denial, you most certainly liked Godsmack’s first album because AIC hadn’t released anything(at the time) worth listening to since DIRT.

I couldnt agree more with what you said. I have seen Godsmack live and they really are not that terrible. I do own (no idea where the actual disc is ) their first album. I was in high school and I did not know any better. Eh it was a good listen. Back to reality, all their new music blows and would never purchase anything by them again. They do blow Disturbed out of the water.

I have all of Godsmack’s albums (their acoustic EP is really good in 5.1 surround, by the way), but I won’t be buying any more of them. To someone else’s point, they’ve been making the same album over and over again since almost the beginning of their career (I consider “Awake” the pinnacle of their career; it’s been downhill from there). It’s really too bad, because I can tell from what I’ve seen in their shows that the musicians (particularly the lead guitarist) are capable of much more than what Sully has them play.

I’ve seen them twice in concert. The first time, they opened for Stone Temple Pilots along with Disturbed. The second time, several years later, they headlined and the overall vibe was much different. They had gone from from hard rock nobodies with something to prove to rock ‘n’ roll heroes: over-the-top pyrotechnics, lots of “clap yo’ hands” and “I can’t hear you” and stuff like that. It was pretty disappointing. I felt like a douche just for being an audience to such wankery.
