Progressive power metal fans, have we got a band for you. Redemption was hand picked by Dream Theater to play support for Summer ‘07 tour and features vocalist Ray Alder of the legendary Fates Warning. Those two facts alone should tip you off that you’re about to hear something cool.
Redemption’s fourth studio album, Snowfall on Judgment Day, comes out September 28 on Inside Out Music. You can get a free taste – damn right, we said free!!! – of a new track, “Leviathan Rising,” below. Give it a listen. There’s a damn good reason these fellas have the DT seal of approval.
And don’t forget to visit Redemption on MySpace for more music and the latest news on the band.

Ray Alder is one of the greatest vocalists in metal history. Equal to Halford, Dio, and Tate – and I love all those guys. No Exit is classic prog-metal.
Yep. Fates just played ProgpowerUSA on Saturday night and they were awesome. Ray’s age is starting to show, though. He sounded really tired as the set went on. Granted it was a 2+ hour set, but he was definitely struggling at points…
More progressive, less power metal. That’s a good thing. I could do without the small piano interlude, but definite high marks.
Good stuff.
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice
This album should be excellent. Not surprising considering how great the past two albums were. This band should definitely be bigger than they are.
Really? Of all the prog bands that you could promote, you choose Redemption? They’re one of the most generic and boring prog bands out there. The Origins of Ruin was probably my least favorite album of 2007, being full of lame riffs, lethargic vocals, and relatively unoriginal ideas that many bands have done much better before. That’s saying a lot considering how much music I hate.
This song is no different. I hate this band.
No way! Ziltoid hates a band.
Jeez man… one thing is being “selective” or “polemic” and another is bash the best “pure prog” metal act nowadays…
So what, they didn’t create a new sub division in prog, but still, musically / composing wise, are nearly perfect. and please notice that I’m not even talking about skills…
Name one band in this style doing a better job these days…
you lost me at “power metal”
Don’t be too quick to pre-judge. I heard very little PM in the song. Give it a shot.
Amazing band indeed !!
too much homo-erotic power-prog and not enough metal. i like power metal but that was too much for me
This band has some Rush in them
I saw them open for DT 2 years ago and thought the set was pretty boring. I wasn’t the only one either.. the only rise they got out of the Toronto venue was sneaking in part of YYZ by Rush into one of their songs.
