HYDROPHOBIC HATEBREED

Friday, September 11th, 2009 at 12:30pm by

hatebreedselftitledHatebreed have a new song, “Merciless Tide,” available for free download right here. It comes off their new, self-titled album, which will be released on E1 on September 29.

And… hey! Lookit that. I actually like it. It reminds me why I always end up enjoying Hatebreed, even if they’re never gonna make another Satisfaction is the Death of Desire. And it’s definitely better than that other song the band released. There’s multiple guitar solos, both of which I enjoy, the breakdown is fun, Jamey sounds pretty cranky.

And besides. I’ve already heard the best hardcore album of 2009. It’s called Axe to Fall.

This band is terrible and they always have been. I don’t know why their new album is metal news, because they were never a real metal band.

    • SonOF

It’s news because they are a hardcore band, and believe it or not, the genres tend to cross over quite a bit, and many people that like metal also enjoy hardcore.

It’s not like we are talking about discussing the new Brooks & Dunn record; I think Hatebreed news on a metal site makes sense.

I’d suggest searching for a life over the weekend if you get bored

This sounds like the later Earth Crisis records

  • SonOF

Sounds good to me. Hatebreed do what they do well. I happen to like what they do, so it works for me.

PS: That song-ending breakdown is pretty crushing.

  • Canvas Of Flesh

    This band sucks too.

    • SonOF

Your comments are very insightful and useful in general.

      • Canvas Of Flesh

        I know.

      • Cheeky

He’s telling the truth, and people that disagree, suck too. Cause they’re too stupid to realize that the band sucks.

Definitely dig this track a lot more than the first one they released.

They remind me of Slayer, if Slayer didnt have any lead guitar or speed metal parts. Just really boring semi-evil sounding hardcore riffs. I liked Jasta the best in Kingdom of Sorrow!

You’ve heard Axe to Fall in its entirety? FUCK MAN. I am almost wetting myself in anticipation for that album.

i love hatebreed but i think the well is running dry on this new album. how many times can they play the same simple shit over and over and rehash the same lyrics about rising up and overcoming and yada yada yada. they’re getting stale. they need to reinvent themselves or go on their merry ways. I’d rather see Jasta do another Kingdom of Sorrow record with Kirk than more hatebreed shit.

i want to hear this AND Axe to Fall. No Heroes was great!!
I’ve always liked Hatebreed no matter what people say. It’s one band I listen to that I can say “hey, they have a positive message”

I liked some Satisfaction. Also Persevearance. Two songs off ROB. Like that line in Live for This “If you don’t live for something you die for nothing.” Doomsayer had cool breakdowns. I dunno if they really hold up for me anymore. I’m not such a fan of this new song.

Here is a little known Hatebreed secret though. With the addition of this new album, all the songs from every disc from Satisfaction through to this one are actually one big concept album. It tells the story of all sorts of influences attacking Hatebreed and trying to get them to make different music but they persevear and play the exact same song over and over and over.
