7-string guitars are lame anyway. If you have to artificially tune down to sound heavy, you’re a poseur. Same for 5-string basses. Cliff Burton & Lemmy never played no 5-string!

Now that you mention it, I don’t think I’ve ever looked at HAARP in that light before. And yes, you’re right. That is certainly the sort of sound I’d like to hear revived on their studio material. I bought the album during my lunch break so let’s see if they can deliver!

For starters, I know that what the general population deem as “metal” is purely subjective.
I also realize that having an open mind about what is and isn’t metal has led to a lot of garbage being considered by most people (on this site included) as metal.
In my oh so humble opinion, there has to be some ground rules.
Core bands are not metal, period.
They may have metal elements, but they stray too far out of the realm of decent music due to blatant ripping off of other bands that did it better years prior.
Anyone with half a brain and considers themselves to be a metalhead, should be checking out the bands that started this shit.
You may not like them, but you need to listen to them, you need to be aware and respect what they did.
part of the fun of being into metal is going back to the beginning and listening to the bands that paved the way, you can see how it has progressed in a positive way, and see how it’s spiraled into shitsville (core).
You guys should change the name of your site to ” Musicsucks” that way you can seem a little more legitimate when promoting blatantly non-metal bands like Muse, regardless of the bands metal wonderings.
