MACHINE HEAD’S ROB FLYNN IS JUST A FAN AT HEART

This is exactly what it looks like: Machine Head’s Rob Flynn. At Wembley Stadium. After his band opened for Metallica. In the crowd. Sining “Master of Puppets” along with the fans.
Regardless of what you think of Machine Head, you need to give the dude props for this. That is very cool.

Indeed, Metallica makes music that reflects whatever shallow trend is cool at the time…just…like…Machine Head.
What the hell are you talking about, hater?
And English people DO still have bad teeth! Woo
Pink hair dudes.
MASTER! MASTER!!!!!!
Robb is one of the coolest nicest most generous people i have met. The first time I met Robb he hung out with us a watched Heaven and Hell and enjoyed some RJD poses. there is no one bband etter to their fans from Phil to Dave to Robb to Adam…MH RULES.
Go Vikings!
Not to take anything away from Rob, because that’s incredibly cool (if my band had worked hard for years and got to open for Metallica, I would be sure to milk the experience for everything it was worth, too), but Brian Fair is also known for getting out into the crowd and moshing with other fans at shows on a fairly regular basis. Also, you don’t have to stalk the band at the buses or other places at the venue or the hotel, because he makes a point of coming out before shows, walking up and down the lines of people waiting to get in to the venue, and talking to anyone and everyone who’ll also make the time for him. He’s totally accessible, from what I hear, and reportedly makes it a point to come out from the VIP area from time to time so he can enjoy the total show, too. Not a lot of artists do that, and I understand why from the perspective that sometimes people can’t manage to be cool to them.
Anyone here can be cynical all they want, but I happen to think it always cool to hear about the pros who don’t let the experience of doing music a for a living kill the simple pleasures of why they supposedly do what they do to begin with.
i met brian fair at ozzfest in the crowd by the second stage. he was just hangin out watching whoever was playing at the time like everyone else. cool dude
Sure, props to Fair for being cool as well, but SF isn’t that big (compared to Machine Head), I don’t think anyone would expect him to act like anything other than a normal guy. Almost all of the guys in bands as popular as Shadows Fall (or less so) pretty much hang out with the people and act “normal” (unless they are complete dicks living in a rock star fantasy world…I haven’t encountered too many guys like that thankfully), I don’t think Fair’s actions are unique.
Dear Rob-
Glad you had a good time headbanging at Metallica shows.
Your band still fucking sucks.
Love,
TJ
yeah it’s always cool when the bands aren’t afraid to meet real people. Luckily, most of the shows I go to are at small local venues and the bands are almost always around chatting with fans.
Why is it quiet enough to hear each other talk at a Metallica concert? I’ve never been to one, but it seems like they should be…louder.
Have you ever been to a concert… at all ? If you scream loud enough directly in people’s ears, they can hear you over the music, so I guess the same magic happens when yelling at a mobile’s microphone… Now get the fuck up and get a real life.
No, he’s actually sort of right…you can barely hear Metallica, which is kind of strange..it’s especially strange because you would assume Flynn is very close to the action…
Three words:
Noise Cancelling Technology.
It wasn’t that cool.
