HATRED: FUCKING ADORABLE

MetalSucks Maniac Steve Hamlin sent us the link to this 24 minute documentary, Heavy Metal Jr., which follows six tween boys and their band, Hatred. Inevitably, a few of you will criticize these kids for, I dunno, like Marilyn Manson or whatever. But you know what? If you do, you’re an asshole. These kids are keeping the dream alive, and clearly, they’re pretty committed. Also, I already like them better than Black Tide, or Bad 4 Good, or whatever adolescent metal band you wanna name.

Watch this when you can – all of it. It’s totally worth it.

      I love these kids, I want the CD, they are everything that is good and true about metal. Anyone who is above the age of 13 who has flamed this video has done the more cowardly equivalent of going to their school and beating them in the playground, shame on all of you haters. I’m sure the guy who is complaining about the “single coil strat… wah wah wah” was a regular virtuoso with the best gear when he was 12, as for the dad I wish that I had a parent so enthusiastic about my love for heavy music. Harden up you fucks and enjoy this 24 min vid into any true metal fans past. Satan Bless their little cotton socks.

    I was laughing pretty hard when they are in the crowd watching their opener, also the bass player tryouts were hysterical. One kid “Have you ever played guitar before?” Bass kid “No.”

    A few things going through my head while watching:

    1. Scarves aren’t metal\
    2. Robbie is the most talented one, and I think he knows it and just plays the fool until he can kill them all in their sleep.
    3. I’ll bet ten bucks that the guitarist had never heard the term death metal until he bought the pedal.
    4. This saddens me.

        Maybe too much Spinal Tap? Gotta be a farce. The moment when the kid thinks up “Satan Rock” seems particularly staged though there are many moments like that.

    Its cool to see kids wanting to play music like that and it being Metal is even cooler. But its funny to me that it became less fun for them when it became a chore for their parents.

    You can tell all they wanna do is play music. They don’t care if people like it, they just wanna play. Hopefully they’ll be left alone and just be allowed to write whatever they want.

    And yeah, they’re keeping the dream alive.
