I never heard of this band (I’m not into black metal at all) but this song fuckin’ rules!!!
Now I’m ready for Yom Kippur!
    Thanks

You’ve probably heard a couple of their songs without knowing who you were listening to; at least that was the case for me, until I saw “Global Metal,” where Melechesh were featured fairly prominently in chapter on Israeli metal. Also, Axl referenced them in passing in his write up on the band Dagor Dagorath that you tipped him off on.

Is it appropriate to wish Jewish friends a Happy Yom Kippur? I mean, is it supposed to be a happy holiday? All that fasting and self-denial doesn’t sound very metal, but then not much does.

Oh, now I remember seeing them in Global Metal. Thanks! I’ll have to check ‘em out.
About Yom Kippur, it’s definitely not a happy day neither a sad one, it’s more of a serious day. It’s the Jews holiest day of the year, in which we believe that God seals the fate of every living being for the year to come. So we confess, repent and ask for forgiveness and pray that God will write us in the “book of life” (health, money etc.). So back to your question, we basically wish each other in hebrew “Gmar Chasima Tova”, which roughly translated means “A Good Closing” or more like “You Shall be Sealed for the Good”.
If you’re interested you can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yom_kippur

Now let me ask you this: What’s more metal than fasting (zero eating and drinking) for over 25 hours, sitting in the synagouge and praying like 80% of that time. Not wearing leather shoes, and more…??? LOL

That is really interesting. Never knew this about Yom Kippur, or anything for that matter. Definitely going to read more about it now.
