LAZARUS A.D. BE FINE LADS INDEED

Monday, September 28th, 2009 at 3:59pm by

As previously noted, Lazarus A.D. are one of the few new bands heavily sporting retro thrash as an influence who I actually like; every band claims to mix the old with the new — or at least their press bios claim it — but few go too far beyond simply recycling the riffs of their ’80s heroes. The lads of LAD (haha) certainly wear their ’80s influences proudly, most notably in the vocal delivery of bassist/vocalist Jeff Paulick, but the band’s musical attack is actually quite diversified and the results are pretty interesting if you ask me (which, by visiting this site, you did).

Lazarus A.D. have a new video for “Revolution;” it’s all live clips, but it’s still entertaining. Having not seen the band live yet, I’m definitely keen to check them out next time they come around.

Badass band, the only problem i have it that the snare at the beginning is to loud, other than that they have a great flow with the song.

and the bassist/singer looks like a young dimebag

I hope they get some serious recognition they deserve it. The Onslaught kicks ass

Love me some Lazarus A.D. The vocals remind me of Tony Benjamins of Forced Entry a little.

I saw Lazarus A.D. live. They opened for TestAmenT and Unearth, and they were still the best band there (I’m a fan of both TestAmenT and Unearth, too).

“Thanks to MetalSucks maniac…. for sending in this video…”

You guys hate me, I think. Is it because I reccomended that crappy band?

    • MetalRod

Haha I felt the burn once. It’s all good tho. This band kicks ass, I’ve been meaning to pick up this album.

Check out some other songs. If you don’t like it, then your new name is Helen Keller.

    • Nate

Thou shall not fear is muhc much better.

  • Sammy

Vinnie, my man, you could not be more right about this band. And for the guy above who made the Forced Entry comparison, now that you say it, I hear that too.

  • DidgeryDoo

    Nice this was pretty good.

    • You Suck

Oh how ever did you refrain from verbose explanations and inflated convoluted meanderings? Don’t you feel the ned to go on and on and on about the minutiae of why it was “pretty good”?

      • DidgeryDo

Are you actually going to try starting with me on every thread I post on?

I only speak as much as I feel is necessary to get my point across.

To say I like something is pretty easy.

  • I

This is the first time I’ve actually heard this band. I’ve seen their name all over the place and never checked them out. But this was pretty killer. I’m definately going to check out more of this band. I’m a sucker for good thrash.

  • kjetil

I am fan of this band, but not this video. Three camera set-up (in the camera pit, behind the drummer, and one at the sound board) provides nothing but the damn Darth Vader power shot looking up the band members’ noses, no crowd energy whatsoever (not even a little fistbangingmania), cheesy club promoter backdrop on stage, bad syncing of the vocals, and no real personality from the band members can be seen because of the poor camera angles. LAD are excellent live as I reviewed earlier this year. This video, however, does not serve them justice.

so, if I rip off a bunch of cannibal corpse riffs, and their look and presence, can i call myself ” retro death”, or simply an unoriginal copy band? how bout if I rip off some pantera, get myself a bald vocalist and a guitarist with a red beard, am I “retro groove metal” or am i a pantera copy band? all these rehash thrash bands are a FUCKING IMITATION. their cover bands. their fanboys. how can you honestly be captivated by this boring song? I guess whats comfortable is loved. i mean fuck, what part in this song makes me say “oh, this is a band worth anyones attention?” i mean, theres millions of bands, and 100s of 1000s just like this….where is the appeal? i just cant understand it. can someone explain?

I saw them with Amon Amarth in April and they are definitely worth checking out.
