AC/DC TO RELEASE THE BEST BOX SET PACKAGING EVER

This morning MetalSucks uber-Maniac Josh Kidd sent me this link to the website for AC/DC’s upcoming Backtracks box set. The music is all the usual bullshit you see on these box sets – studio rarities, live rarities, your mom’s rarities, whatever. Only really hardcore fans ever buy this shit and as much as I love AC/DC, I’m not a hardcore fan. So go here if you actually wanna see what’s on this thing, music-wise.
No, what captured my attention was the packaging, pictured above. Yes, it just looked like the umpteenth box set made to look like an amp, but check out the description:
The 12″x12″x4″ (30cm*30cm*10cm) exterior box is designed to resemble a vintage AC/DC guitar amp – complete with the original logo that was spray-painted onto the rear of Angus and Malcolm’s speaker cabinets in 1975. The “head” of the amp has a handle that lifts the top off to reveal the contents housed within. Oh yeah, the head is also a WORKING GUITAR AMPLIFIER! That’s right, one watt of pure AC/DC makes this box a truly unique collector’s item. You can PLAY the box set while LISTENING TO the box set! Check out the videos of Angus using the amp.
That’s right: YOU CAN ACTUALLY PLAY THROUGH THIS FUCKER. Amazing. 2001 was a misprint, dude. THE FUTURE IS NOW.

That video is great! I want that so bad, just for a conversation piece. But I ain’t shellin’ out $200 bucks for that shit. Not in this economy.
I’m not a huge AC/DC fan by any means, but you can’t deny how fucking cool that is…
I am the type of AC/DC fan to buy something like this. They arent they only ones coming with a working amp, I heard Spinal Tap are coming out with a box set with a working amp also, and theirs go to 11.

Cool that the box doubles as an amp. The fan could play along with the album, unless they only know 2 chords rather than the necessary 3.
My purpose in life is to own this box set. I will pay any price they ask.
Bonfire was a good box. My ACDC bottle opener is still going strong after 10 years of heavy use. That’s industrial strength rock and roll right there. And the Atlantic Studio sessions can’t be beat.

Such an excellent idea. But again, the price is a bit out of my reach and I’m more of a casual AC/DC fan.
I hate AC/DC (yeah I said it) but I think this is a cool ass idea. Really, $200 isn’t bad for an amp that actually has halfway decent gain (so much as 1 watt will allow) and about 500 fucking songs encased within.
