Like we said yesterday, Desperate Living — the new album from Horse the Band which comes out on October 6th — shows a new, more nuanced side to the band. The album is really good; listening to it this morning in its entirety for the first time I was really quite impressed, and it’s definitely my favorite offering of theirs to date. It’s more complex, proggy and headier than anything they’ve done prior, no small accomplishment for a band as completely fucknuts as these guys are. Goddamn, I’m impressed. R. Borlax has always been my favorite album of theirs, and although everything else is good they seemed to be going (very) slightly downhill. This turns it all around. That insane DIY world tour must have given them a lot to write about. I like it much more than A Natural Death, it’s way more focused and their songwriting has really improved. These guys can do no wrong, I’ll be sure to check them out on their tour, seeing as they’re also one of the best live bands around right now.

man. this album totally blew my head off. like. literally. the stream went up. i listened to it non stop. and felt my soul fill. and now my pre order came in. and life is complete.
