the new album has a lot of great new direction only problem being: markus toivonen being the founding member behind the sound of ensiferum allowed sami hinka to write songs. if you will notice on “from afar” all of the songs with real substance and complexity were written by markus. sami is an excellent bass player but if he wants to have a cheesy keyboard driven power metal band he can join nightwish.
more songs like “heathen throne”, “elusive reaches” and even “stone cold metal” are what ensiferum needs to keep putting out in order to maintain growth in a new direction, mature their sound yet keep the respect that they deservingly earned with their self-titled and iron release.
really glad to see enisferum coverage on the site and can’t wait to see them play with hypocrisy and ex deo on the upcoming tour. if you guys would like an interview with the real heart of ensiferum let me know!

Kudos to the guy for being willing to wear leather pants and go shirtless and still have a gut.

That aside, Ensiferum fucking kills. The new album is brilliant, just like their other stuff. One of the best folk metal bands out there, without a doubt!

No offence to Joseph; he asked some great questions. But Sami was clearly not getting into this at all. His answers are quite weak and a bit vague. Also, he described the new tour as being ‘better’. I thought you guys made it clear that they weren’t allowed to use that word to describe upcoming tours/releases?
