questionmark

Okay, so here’s the deal: MetalSucks is sponsoring an AWESOME tour this winter. And when we say “AWESOME,” we mean AWESOME. We’re so stoked. We can’t wait to tell you which bands are playing.

The thing is, we can’t. Not yet.

We can tell you that a) there are four bands on the bill, and b) they are all, as we said, friggin’ AWESOME.

The full tour announcement is coming this Monday, October 12. In the meantime, to get you all hot n’ bothered, we’ve conducted a interview with a member of each band, providing them with questions designed to help you guess who they are without spoiling the surprise. Today we present the first interview, with the first band on the bill, natch. After the jump, read his or her interview, then try to guess which band he’s from! Tomorrow we’ll present the interview with second band on the bill, Thursday the third band, and Friday the headliners, before making the official announcement on Monday.

Enjoy, kiddies…

New Jersey and England.

Including yourself, how many members are there in your band?

To which label are you currently signed?

Were you or any other members of your band ever in another well-known band?

No.

How would you describe your band’s particular brand of metal?

How many guitar players in your band?

Two.

Does your band have a drummer?

Yes.

Does your band have a bassist?

Thanks for playing along, mystery guest. Please tell us one another random fact of your choosing that might help our readers guess who you are.

    Mutiny Within

    Attack attack!

  5. timmah says:

    mutiny within

  6. Dysenteric says:

    I’m guessing Mutiny Within.

I’m guessing MW because I vaguely remember some British kid getting the vocalist role last year. This may be completely wrong…

  7. John says:

    keyboards=no care ever

  8. Natalie says:

Mutiny Within. Am I allowed to play?

  9. F says:

But Mutiny Within has two guitarists, and this interview says the band only has one?

  10. Tom says:

Mutiny within, This Or the Apocalypse, Thy Will Be Done and one more band.

  11. Tim-o-tato says:

Since, I know peeps….I am guessing it is a Soulfly headlining tour with Prong, Cattle Decapitation, and finally Mutiny Within!!!!
    ++++1?!?!?!!? lol

  12. Joe says:

Mutiny Within, Periphery, This or the Apocalypse, Thy Will be Done

  13. Dysenteric says:

    > “We recently recorded a theme song for a WWE wrestler.”

Just checked on their MySpace. That wrestler is Evan Bourne. And what I said about that British kid doing the vocals is correct:

    > Mutiny’s search for the right frontman brought them to the UK where demos from former With Intent
    > vocalist Chris Clancy deemed him “most likely to end up in a metal band from New Jersey”.

New Jersey and England, see. Perfect fit or not, I think Mutiny Within is the best guess.

In passing, Mutiny Within are rubbish. The clean vocals are terrible.

  14. RomuluXX says:

Gotta be Mutiny Within, as they have a WWE theme song clip on their page. Maybe their 2 guitarists play one giant guitar together?

  15. msv81 says:

It’s definitely Mutiny Within, even though their myspace says they have two guitarists and the interview says they have one; maybe they dropped a guy?

Anyhow, all the information is on their myspace; the first song on the player is WWE’s Evan Bourne Theme (as stated in the interview), and the band is promoting their upcoming tour with Soulfly, Cattle Decapitation, and Prong (too bad MetalSucks isn’t sponsoring THAT tour!)

The later dates, beginning in November, include Periphery and This Or The Apocalypse.

  16. Myke says:

That’s an easy one mutiny within when are these dudes releasing their album

  17. FuckYourGayEmoHaircut says:

The only halfway decent band that has EVER recorded a theme for a wrestler (besides Motorhead) is Story of the year, but that can’t be it…can it?

  18. Carnage says:

Soulfly_Cattle Decapitation_Prong_Mutiny Within tour…..sorry to ruin the mystery

    • msv81 says:

That tour begins tonight, we would have been informed sooner of it. Doesn’t make any sense for them to tell us on Monday when 4 shows on the tour will have already been played.

    • stu1 says:

You’re as sharp as a thimble.

    • We Eat Cripples says:

I hope that’s not the mystery tour that sucks! Mutiny Within looks gay, i don’t like soulfly or Prong. Cattle Decapitation is good tho

  19. jason says:

“We can tell you that a) there are four bands on the bill, and b) they are all, as we said, friggin’ AWESOME.”

    Well…
    A) They’re on Roadrunner
    B) They did a theme for a wrestler

That’s two strikes guys….not looking “friggin’ awesome.”

  20. Lord Bling says:

MS, you said all four bands are AWESOME. Mutiny Within are NOT awesome.

  21. Trip Cahouet says:

Machine Head, Mushroomhead, Periphery and Mutiny Within

  22. The M_F Beard says:

    Machine Head, Periphery, and Mushroomhead

    Ruined it.

The dates are on Mutiny Within’s site.

    Sowwy.

    • The M_F Beard says:

Also, when you say four awesome bands, do you actually mean two ? MH & Periphery… ?

      • msv81 says:

San Francisco Bay Area metallers MACHINE HEAD have scheduled a one-off headlining concert on Friday, November 6 at the Crazy Donkey in Farmingdale, New York. Support at the show will come from THY WILL BE DONE, THIS OR THE APOCALYPSE and MUTINY WITHIN.

Commented guitarist Phil Demmel: “We are extremely excited to announce our only U.S headline show this year, and to have it be in New York is going to be insane!!!” Guitarist/vocalist Robb Flynn added, “We really felt like doing something special for the U.S. fans to get ready for the Canadian Carnage dates. What better place to do it than with our maniacal fanbase in New York!!!”

Some of the comments are stating venues other than “The Crazy Donkey”, but we can’t be too sure.

  24. Master Chah says:

“read his or her interview, then try to guess which band he’s from!”
    r0lf…or am i incorrect?

  25. joshkid says:

Maybe Machine Head is gonna do a full blown US tour, starting Jan. 2010 And Metalsucks will sponsor that, cool!!!

  26. Nate says:

Never heard of mutiny within… But what they have on their myspace is pretty good.

  27. iolanach says:

  31. Joe the Destroyer says:

  32. SP420 says:

  33. Hammer_Smashed_Hurtt says:

I want to be excited, but i have a feeling im going to be let down.

  34. xZakkxSlaughterx says:

Mutiny Within, Periphery, This or the Apocalypse, Thy Will be Done

  35. Drew says:

    Its Chimaira…duh?

  36. SourDeez says:

You know, it would still qualify as a surprise if you just skipped this bullshit and told us who the bands are.

  37. Strapping Young Lad says:

Not a fan of Mushroom Head, but Machine Head and Periphery are fucking incredible… Mutiny Within sounds pretty cool too, I can def. see myself getting into them. Great vocals!!

  38. Drag says:

The answer is Mutiny Within. Another shitty poppy metal band, that sounds just like In Flames or At The Gates combined with a newer emo band.
    Totally unoriginal, totally gay.

  39. Sin and Death says:

Well it ain’t Fiona Apple, and if it ain’t Fiona Apple, I don’t give a rat’s ass.

  40. mankvill says:

Ugh. This is gonna be just like the Top 21 Bullshit List. They’re stringing it along as metal, but it’s probably rounded out by Killswitch Engage, Iwrestledabearonce and some other fucking shitty band.

  41. Zilch says:

    first band is a disappointment.

  42. DecrystallizingReason says:

    Machine Head is headlining.

    Mark my words.

  43. Mike says:

Probably a bunch of shitty metalcore bands.

  44. Noel says:

is there any chance is has to do with lake bukkakes recently announced tour? what about anal chainsaw? Are they touring together?!? Oh heavens crusty butt, yesssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cant wait til this tuesday!

  45. Failure says:

    I don’t fucking care.

  46. bearwizard says:

I hate to be the party pooper but every band on this yet to be announced tour sucks.

  47. This is the most unspecific interview ever! Their band does not stand out in any way whatsoever: mixed vocals, mixed style, two guitars, one bass, one drummer, one keyboard-ist = almost any modern band in any country playing any style.

  48. Alcohol says:

The bands are: Mutiny Within, Periphery, This Or The Apocalypse, Thy Will Be Done

None of these bands are remotely “AWESOME” at all. Massive fail.

  49. Hairyman says:

Anybody else noticed that the new tagline has “1293th” in it?

1293rd. Seriously guys. Proof-read your shit.

  50. Stabitha C. says:

I’m going to interrupt this storm of ‘MUTINY WITHIN” to say that your impeccable grammar in the Q portion of this Q&A gives me a ladyboner, A & V. Well done.

  51. Psyco says:

ive seen them play in backyards and shit years ago. not to stoked about them

  52. did you just piss on my xbox? says:

    keyboards

    booooooooo

  53. Tuhdeh says:

ahahahaha Mutiny Within is the gayest shit ever

  54. F says:

Why are they refering to this tour as “AWESOME”?

If the first band actually is Mutiny Within, a really shitty band, then those other three bands have got to be like BEYOND AWESOMENESS-good.

  55. Cornrow Wallace says:

    This tour already sucks.
