Alright, you brats, this is it. Baroness’ Blue Record comes out next Tuesday, October 13 on Relapse, but the band is now streaming the entire album right here.

The album is fucking great. I know I’ve said that a bunch of times, but really, it’s just an awesome rock n’ roll record. If it’s not at the tippy top of my year end list, it’s gonna be very, very close.

Now go listen.

    It IS an awesome album….

Gonna be honest, never listened to these guys until right now, but I’m liking what I’m hearing. What else is recommended by them if I like this new one?

    • You Suck

Uh…try their only other album. The Red Album.

      • Kye

Same. I’ve somehow managed to not hear a note of their music until today. I dig it. The vocalist will take some getting used to, but I definitely enjoy the music.

Uh…they actually have 2 other albums, not including Red Album, and a split.

    • jason

Their first two albums (creatively titled First &Second, respectively of course) are a little heavier vocal-wise. I’d start with the Red Album and work backwards.

  • jamie

    red album is better

    • You Suck

      Agreed

  • David

Should hopefully get the CD/Tshirt in the mail today. I love Relapse mailorder… always get the stuff about a week before the official release date.

  • Edgar

wow, thats a pretty killer album.

  • \m/Eluveitie\m/

I like the Red Album much better, this is something of a disappointment for me…maybe I just got sick of these guys

    • klinger

keep listening to it it gets better the second or third listen, after that you start to hear all the little subtleties that you loved on the red album, or at least thats what i found

  • http://infinitybasement.wordpress.com Jon Lewis

    Dude… sick.

  • anaestheticallypleasingperson

everyone always gets all cummy over mastadon and baroness, i respect that their probably good, but just personally cant get into them, well hmmmm their both good, and i would consider going to one of their shows, but they just dont get me excited i guess…

    • Chris D.

I’m with you 100%, man. I appreciate what they’re doing, and they both have a very unique sound, but it’s kind of dull after a while, and I can’t really identify with them emotionally. Interestingly, they seem to be leading the way in hipster metal.

    • msv81

I totally agree with you as well, I don’t know what all the hype is about. I’ve listened to this whole album a number of times to try and get into it, I just can’t. Sure, they’re good musicians, but the music becomes pretty dull after a few tracks. Ehh, to each his own, I guess.

      • trav

Agreed, boring and/or not my thing. Awesome cover art though – love that guy’s stuff.

PS – what’s with the Lady Gaga ad to the left of my empty, hollow words?

  • bucketochicken

I too, was kinda late getting on the trolley with these guys, but I’m glad I did because I fucking love this band. Can’t wait for the 13h!!

I love this album, and I think it’s a better album overall than Red Album. ‘Rays On Pinion’ is probably my favorite song by these guys, and there isn’t anything on this album that tops that, but it’s a better album all the way through.

    • You Suck

Listening to ‘Rays on Pinion’ right now an it is an awesome tune. I think I like ‘Isak’ better.

  • Chimp-0-Neg

Thanks guys! You gonna leak this one too?

  • SouthFL Infidel

Can’t stream at work and haven’t gotten around to it yet, so I think I’ll just wait until I get the album (like back in the old days lol).

I can understand the posters above who don’t see the big deal or tire of the music quickly, but I guess it all depends on what you listen for, right? I LOVE the Red Album, but I don’t listen to it when I feel like jamming or when riding in my truck running errands on my lunch break or anything like that. Every now and then, like after a workout, I want to just lay back in the evening, fire one up, and listen to well-played, atmospheric music. THAT is when I reach for the ol’ Red Album (Or Pelican’s “The Fire In Our Throats Will Beckon The Thaw”)…works every time!

Oh yeah, and “gets all cummy”…man, that made me almost literally laugh out loud…I’m stealing that, hope you don’t mind!

    • You Suck

You make an excellent point. It’s not agro fist banging metal. Its is a really good band to roast a fatty to. Also great lovemaking music.

    • msv81

Fair enough. When I’m in the mood for something a little less agressive, I’ll throw on some Tool, Porcupine Tree, or Dredg, who, are my three favorite non-metal bands (I don’t care if people consider Tool metal, they’re not in my book).

  • The Roan

the red album is years ahead of this

  • jason

Anyone heard about a vinyl release of this? I didn’t seen any on the Relapse site.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kasper-Maigaard/1027001938 Kasper Maigaard

Meh, it’s alright I guess. I wouldn’t jizz my pants if they announced a danish gig though.

  • CYN1C

This is the first album I listened from them and I loved it. Made me get The Red Album and I like that too. Don’t know if I like them more than Mastodon, but both are fucking great.

  • Tyler

best song title and best song ever? A Horse Called Golgotha

  • Meekal

    Holy shit.
this album comes out next tuesday?
I’ve had this from a leak for almost a month.

    • \m/Eluveitie\m/

I thought it was already out too
