On Tuesday we told you that we’re sponsoring an AWESOME tour this winter with a four band bill, and while we can’t tell you all the bands on the bill just yet, we can tease that info out for you. So every day for the rest of this week, we’ll be posting an interview with a member of each band on the bill, featuring questions designed to help you guess who they are without spoiling the surprise. Then, this Monday, October 12, we’ll reveal the complete line-up for the tour!

The first bands announced were Mutiny Within and Arsis. Yesterday, many of you correctly guessed that the third band is none other than the legendary Exodus! The band just announced a January 15 release date for their sure-to-be killer new DVD/CD set, Shovel Headed Tour Machine (Live At Wacken And Other Assorted Atrocities), and with a little luck, 2010 will also bring us the release of The Atrocity Exhibition – Exhibit B. These guys are true pioneers, a band that pretty much every metal band since has owed some debt to, and they absolutely SLAY live.

After the jump, check out the interview with a member of the headlining band. See if you can guess who it is just based on his or her answers!!!

Where is your band from?

The band is based in Sweden.

Including yourself, how many members are there in your band?

Five.

How many words are in your band’s moniker?

Two.

How many albums have you released? How many years has it been since your band’s debut album?

We have released eight full length studio albums. Thirteen years since the first album was released.

How many members of your original line-up remain? And by “original,” I mean musicians who were on an album people have heard of. No one cares about that dude who was on your demo that one time.

Three original members from the first album remain in our current line-up.

To which label are you currently signed?

Century Media.

Were you or any other members of your band ever in another well-known band? (If so, please don’t say which band or bands. that would spoil the fun.)

Yes.

How would you describe your band’s particular brand of metal?

Pure Fucking Metal.

Does your band have male members, female members, or some mix thereof?

It’s a mix thereof!

Does your band utilize clean vocals, screaming, or some mix thereof?

Screams and growls – no whiney, pseudo clean vocals.

How many guitar players in your band?

Two.

Does your band have a drummer?

Yes.

Does your band have a bassist?

Yes.

Does your band have a keyboardist?

No.

Thanks for playing along, mystery guest. Please tell us one another random fact of your choosing that might help our readers guess who you are.

Both our guitar players and our bass player have their own signature model guitars/bass with three separate companies/brands.

Alright, this is it everyone! Who wants to take a guess as to the identity of the last band on the bill?

    arch enemy?

  2. Honeynutzz says:

    Arch Enemy.

  3. rupert says:

    Arch Enemy!!!

  4. NoNameNoSlogan says:

I’m gonna say Arch Enemy based on that “Pure Fucking Metal” answer.

  5. Master Chah says:

    ARCH ENEMY?!?!?!?!

  6. Arch Enemy, this is a good tour

    • Hendecahedron says:

Care to elaborate as to why it’s a letdown? Arch Enemy fucking kills!!

    • Tyler says:

I agree. Honestly I don’t see why this is such a good tour. Mutiny Within sucks and Arsis is ok i guess. Exodus sucks because you can get the same in any 80s trash band. Arch Enemy sucks compared to what could have been in the lead spot. I’m most definatly not going to see this tour.

      • Brendan Seigel says:

Tyler… you obviously have NOT listened to Atrocity Exhibiton. Its not “80’s trash” in the least, it’s modern brutal death/thrash.

        • Tyler says:

Even if it has some death metal elements, it’s mainly thrash. You can’t deny that. And no, I didnt listen to it because I tend to hear a few songs and make my desicion about a band. They didn’t impress me.

      • Nate says:

Arsis is ok? Wow. Exodus sucks and is generic? Arch Enemy isn’t an awesome headliner? Dude, who did you want to headline? Fucking Kanye West? I’m pretty damn sure most people are gonna get super jazzed about this fucking tour.

I mean honestly, this is a metalheads dream. You have Melo/Tech Death band. A melodic metal band. A fucking amazing thrash band. And another amazing melo-death band. Do you not like metal? Honestly, do you really NOT like metal?

  7. Nikki says:

if its Arch Enemy im skipping this tour

  8. Full Metal Jackoff says:

Definitely Arch Enemy. Sounds like a killer tour! Hopefully it comes somewhere near Maine.
The House of Blues in Boston would be a pretty good place.

    • Strapping Young Lad says:

yea. I’m glad metal bands are finally coming back to Boston. For a while, the Palladium in Worchester was my only answer, and that’s annoying to get to.

      • House of Blues in Boston is a great venue based on sound. The security they have there during most metal shows is downright intrusive.

MA/RI just needs a new venue in general. Palladium and Lupo’s just have muddy sound usually.

That said – I may check this tour out. None of these bands are bad, they just don’t really strike me as something I’d want to go out and see. Just doesn’t move me.

      • Pete Simone says:

You gotta admit that the Palladium is the shit though. I absolutely love that venue.

        • Pete Simone says:

…and I’m sad to hear that about the security at the house of blues. I’m seeing Mastodon, Dethklok, Converge and High on Fire there in a couple weeks. If they decide bitch about moshing and general public drunkenness, we’re gonna have a big problem.

  9. rob says:

pure fuing metal is the give away. its gonna be an awesome tour!!!
BETTER COME TO NEW ENGLAND or ill come down to nyc and kick metal sucks ass’s!!!

  10. Procrastinate says:

    NEED TICKETS NOW.

  11. WowWee! says:

I hope they come to Las Vegas, if its Arch Enemy then your an pure idiot for not going to this tour. Bring this shit to Las Vegas and I will let you kick my friend in the balls.

    Come to Las Vegas

  12. rob says:

i cant see them playing house of blues, i think its the palladium IF anything in new england. they havnt even headlined here since april 06, and it was a festival. the other shows they did were sept 06 with gigantour/megadeth. after that it was sept 07 coheadline with machine head, and then they skipped new england on their may 08 headline tour.

arch enemy is due in new england.

    • Tony says:

haha, I remember being so angry about skipping New England for that last year, that was with Dark Tranquillity wasn’t it? I like Exodus, but THAT is a fucking pairing right there (though I guess DT would have wiped the floor with AE every night)

  13. LordBokrug says:

Arch Enemy is headlining over Exodus, am I the only one who finds that to be horribly wrong?

    • mankvill says:

Arch Enemy are definitely a bigger band than Exodus nowadays, however wrong that may sound.

    • Kevin French says:

I completely agree. I know it makes sense from a business perspective, but it’s infuriating. It’s like when Shadows Fall went on tour with Agnostic Front supporting. That was a similar makes sense/pisses me off combo.

  14. rob says:

no, AE is bigger then exodus, they always play over them.

  15. Necrophagist777 says:

I’ve pretty much waited my whole life to see Arch Enemy in America. I dont care if I have to hitch a ride in the attack attack tour bus, I’m gonna be there. Arsis and Exodus are a big plus too! SO STOKED!!!

  16. Kevin says:

    hmmm this is displeasing….
    I love exodus but ehhh

  17. Brian \m/(-_-)\m/ says:

OMFG ARCH ENEMY ARCH ENEMY GAHHHHHHHHH IM SO FUCKING EXCITED WHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! POST DATES ALREADY!!!!!!

  18. ab12 says:

do we have to wait until monday for the dates

  19. Kuranes says:

I guessed Arch Enemy based on the first answer alone. I can’t think of any other band who is “based in” Sweden (i.e. but not from there).

Pure Fucking Metal indeed. I’d see that tour if it came to town.

  20. Bring the Tour to LAS VEGAS says:

If anyone thinks this will be a bad tour then you’ve got to have some kind of brain damage or just stupid as fuck. This shits gonna be fucking great. o ya bring the tour to vegas

  21. Leviathan696 says:

it has to be fucking Arch Enemy!!!!!! fucking awesome tour, they better come to NYC!!

  22. Dan says:

I’m not a *massive* fan of their studio albums, but i saw them in August when they headlined Bloodstock festival in the UK, and honestly, i’d probably say they were the best live band i’ve seen, they were incredible. Sounds like a pretty killer tour to me, nobody should just pass this one up – if you get the chance to go you should take it!

  23. Ziltoid says:

    What a horrible tour.

    Arch Enemy is awful.
Exodus hasn’t done anything worthwhile is decades (and even that stuff wasn’t too impressive).
Arsis hasn’t done anything god since ACoG.
    Mutiny Within is pathetic crap.

Two has-beens and two crap bands do not warrant me going to this show.

    • mankvill says:

Exodus is still a beast live. And goddamn, I want to see Arsis so bad. I’m a fan of all their albums (although undoubtedly nothing even compares against ACoG).

      ;_; y u gotta h8 zilty

      • Arch Enemy are godly live.

Rob Dukes is the first non-annoying frontman that Exodus have ever had.

Arsis isn’t that bad but yes, their older stuff was better.

Haven’t heard enough of Mutiny Within to have an opinion but I like what I’ve heard.

    • Fufkin says:

My word, Ziltoid pooh-poohs another parade?

      Who knew.

    • Unholy Vortex says:

Suck my Fucking long Cock! Let’s see your Favourite tour, Britney Espears, Celine Dion, Shania Twain and Gloomy Grim as headliners! Suck this 8=================D

    • xBEARFIGHTx says:

hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since hasn’t done anything god since

  24. pdf says:

This is a really good bill. I’ve seen Arch Enemy three times already (opening for Maiden in 2003, when they toured with Machine Head, and on Ozzfest 2005) and they always put on a strong show. I haven’t seen Exodus since 1990, Arsis since 2006, and I’ve never seen Mutiny Within. I think I will probably hit the NYC date of this tour, especially since it’s likely to be held at the Nokia Theater, which has plush seats in which I can rest my tired old bones.

  25. mankvill says:

I haven’t heard too much Arch Enemy, but what I have heard is really good. Good headliner choice too, tix to this shouldn’t be too expensive.

Exodus (live, they are still a beast) and Arsis are more than enough reason for any extreme metal fan to attent this tour.

  26. builtforsin says:

Ill go if its < $20 AND drive < 1 hour.

  27. Arch enemy for sure

  28. FlyingDadBomb says:

EIther Arch Enemy or In Flames.

  29. Ben says:

This is a letdown for me. Im very picky with my female vocalists, and arch enemy is not one of the ones I like. I’ll still consider going though, for exodus and arsis.

  30. stigmata_97 says:

    I KNEW IT.

  31. RHD says:

Arsis is the only band worth seeing.

  32. Keith Brown says:

Damn. Now I need a new computer monitor, this little tidbit just made jizz all over it

  33. nifkin says:

holy shit james malone looks like a totally different person now.

  34. Arch Fucking Enemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  35. ferocious_fetus says:

    Municipal Waste/Goatwhore/Phobia > this crap.
Arch Enemy hasnt released a decent album since Wages of Sin.
Exodus needs to stop milking Bonded by Blood and retire.
Arsis are a train wreck live and have been becoming less and less relevant w/ every new album.

  36. Discipleofthewatch says:

    Arch Enemy! Right on.

  37. DemiGod says:

    ohmygawd!
well, that probably shot the sacramento date that I was hoping for in the face. Here’s to another possible 2 hour drive out to shitty parking and shitty traffic in the bay area.

  38. myke says:

i was gonna say the haunted but read more futheron. nice tour

  39. DidgeryDo says:

    Totally off topic BUT:

I just got the Brutal Legend demo and it actually has me wondering if I might get this instead of Uncharted 2. Holy fuck it’s good.

  40. Michiel says:

    Bring this tour to Europe!

  41. Bass Turd says:

    Mutiny Within sounds gay
    Arsis is killer
    Exodus is pretty good
Arch Enemy = Awesome don’t give a fuck what anyone else thinks!

  42. Hammer_Smashed_Hurtt says:

    Atrocity Exhibition…Exhibit B

    Cannot fuckin wait.

Shovel Headed Tour DVD, first day buyer. I understand that you cant please everyone, but damn this was a let down. MS Played this one up WAY too hard.

P.S EXODUS pisses allover athe other bands on this bill

  43. Hammer_Smashed_Hurtt says:

If you dont believe me pick up Shovel Headed Kill Machine.

  44. X.Y.Z says:

    I was wrong, huh.
But Arch Enemy is kinda boring anyways.

  45. metalvinny says:

    DARK TRANQUILLITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  46. bearwizard says:

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  47. Meemp says:

Why is Exodus on this tour?

Arch Enemy is going to be embarressed night after night closing for Exodus. At least with Arch Enemy on the bill there will be a lot of 18 year old girls.

  48. paul says:

    arch enemy exodus and arsis?
    this tour it fucking tits!
i really hope theres a mass date

  49. Dannibal says:

you should write your own sript, yes, i know….

  50. Bobby Tims says:

arch enemy is anticlimactic. meh ill see ticket prices, would love to see exodus and arsis, would most likely enjoy seeing arch enemy

  51. Anthony says:

I was gonna say Dark Tranquillity right after the Century Media question came up. Then “Pure fucking metal” was the answer to the next “question”, then it became obvious.

  52. LilalCFH says:

    Fuck Arch Enemy.

  53. F says:

    Arch Enemy, obviously.

So yeah, this tour doesn’t look awesome at all from my point of view.

  54. Dysenteric says:

Of course it’s Arch Enemy. Them answers gave it away. The fact that The Root of All Evil just got released makes it all the more obvious.

I haven’t heard any Arch Enemy with Liiva on vocals, but I have heard Doomsday Machine in full. What a piece of crap that album is, seriously.

So yeah, I don’t think I’m missing out on much.

  55. Nate L. says:

    this one was pretty easy:

    1. they have girl(s)

    2. the girl is not a keyboardist

    3. no clean vox

    4. etc…

  56. MS, I beg of you: make this a European Tour as well.

  57. Sin and Death says:

I’ve already seen Arsis and Arch Enemy live, and I was not dissapointed. Quite the opposite; THEY FUCKING KILL!!!! People are gonna be dropping dead of strokes at this concert, because it’s too much for the brain to handle. This show will be SO FUCKIN’ EXTREME!!!!

Now, to find out if it’s even gonna come close to Baltimore…

  58. lheartdrugs says:

aw crap. i don’t give a rat’s ass about Arch Enemy. two out of four ain’t bad….

  59. Cornrow Wallace says:

Arch Enemy sucks just like the rest of these bands.

  60. RobotScythe says:

ICP with a guest appearance by Fred Durst.

  61. skott666 says:

wow? i cant believe they are touring over exodus.. thats kinda bullshit to me, Exodus is amazing. i mean yeah, so is AE, but Exodus, they are gods. as far as im concerned, they should take anthrax’s place in the big 4

  62. AEnema175 says:

All i can say is, this tour better fucking come to Orlando, or atleast Tampa. every band but the opener is phenomenal.

  63. Did you just piss on my xbox? says:

    hope it comes to pittsburgh

been wanting to check out arch enemy and arsis live

checked out that first band, and they suck ,the destro wouldve been cool in that slot.

  64. rob says:
