SATURDAY ALBUM TO GET EUPHORIC TO: ANTHRAX – “STATE OF EUPHORIA”

Saturday, October 10th, 2009 at 3:59pm by Kip Wingerschmidt

athrxWhen I was a wee lad in 6th grade, a friend’s mother took said friend, his brother, and leel Wingerschmidt to the inaugural Headbanger’s Ball concert featuring Helloween, Exodus (who we’ve just revealed to be on a crazy upcoming tour with Arsis, Mutiny Within, and a mystery headliner who some have guessed will be Arch Enemy), and mighty NYC thrashsters Anthrax, who were touring in support of their awesome 1988 album State of Euphoria.

And unbelievably, my friend’s mother dozed off and fell asleep at the Headbanger’s Ball show.……now that is metal.

Take a look in these here webernet parts for the aforementioned Anthrax album, or feel free to pay some hard-earned dollars for a legitimate copy.

More old-school Anthrax shennanigans here.

Awesome album I love it more than my wife and kids

  2. Facebook User says:

    Excellently badass bit of nostalgia.

  3. Blake says:

I liked some parts of this record, but even Scott Ian has stated this record felt “rushed”. I prefer “Among The Living” and “Persistence of Time” myself; that said, this DOES bring back memories of middle school. Kudos.

  4. R. Joseph Smith says:

End All Be All, nuff said.

  5. exanimate says:

Not sure why, but this was always my favorite Anthrax album.

  6. Manfred Nuggets says:

End All Be All=The song Behemoth ripped off for Conquer All. I love Behemoth and all, but just listen to it. Nergal clearly ripped these guys off.

    • SP420 says:

What in the fucking christ are you talking about? Clearly ripped off? There’s a glancing similarity in the main riff and that’s about it. This is nothing more than a case of metal that sounds like other metal. Fuck, they’re in different tunings and still they don’t match up chord for chord exactly.

  7. pawel says:

i started to listen anthrax a month ago and i got the same impression. This rip off is much too obvious

  8. Distorted says:

I fell asleep at a Suffocation/Vader/Aborted concert. I fell asleep alone at a booth in the House of Blues in NYC…when I woke up there were five other guys aleep around me.

  9. hellbender says:

awesome album… thanks for bringing back those memories!!!

  10. revengeofthenords says:

This album sucked. It has Be All End All, Antisocial, and a whole bunch of filler. Among the Living is way better and still the best album they have ever put out.

  11. T says:

    I hate this fucking band

  12. Kuranes says:

This album was my introduction to Anthrax. It rules. The guitar at the beginning of “Finale” is so damn heavy. I just heard the Children of Bodom cover of “Antisocial” on their covers CD, and it pales in comparison to the real thing (and I’m not talking about the Trust original).

  13. Tom says:

    WORST-ALBUM-EVERRRRRR!

This is the lowest of the low when it comes to the “big 4″. This cartoonish, happy, safe turd of an album came out against “And Justice For All”, “South Of Heaven” and “So Far So Good So What”…horrible.

This album is why Anthrax will always be a House of Blues type band, even with Joey Belladonna at the helm.

  14. Trux says:

Even though I like this album, I remember I felt a little dissapointed about this album back in the day when I first listened to it…..

Not their best by any means….

  15. Joe Sputz says:

Loved this album when it came out. Over time, loved it less. About half of the album is great, the other half is kind of leftovers and I get how they say it “felt rushed”. Case in point: “Schism”.
