JACK BLACK GETS BRUTAL (LEGEND)
Monday, October 12th, 2009 at 3:30pm by Vince NeilsteinLots of you have been emailing us about the new Jack Black-led video game Brutal Legend. Unless you’ve been living in a cave like the MetalSucks Mansion the past couple of weeks, the game’s release has been pretty difficult to ignore because there are ads frickin EVERYWHERE for that shit (except MetalSucks, AHEM EA!). Personally I have zero interest in this game because the last gaming system I bought was the SNES, but presumably many of you rock your XBOX 360s and Playstation 3s as hard as you rock your Internet porn every night. So, here’s Jack Black in a “viral” video spot plugging the game, including some footage from the game itself. I guess the game comes out like pretty soon or something.

This will be a fun game, not to sure about the Multi-player aspect though
I demoed this game at the PAX convention in Seattle earlier this year, it is going to be fucking awesome. The soundtrack is really good and the game is designed to look like (as well as contain throwbacks to) heavy metal album covers. The voice cast is pretty all-star, at least with the sort of people (with, debatable, the exception of Ozzy) you’d expect to pop up in a game like this. Rob Halford is in it as General Lionwhyte, who leads a giant army of 80’s hair metallers who are trying to take over the heavy metal world. Lita Ford is in there, Lemmy is in there. There is a ton of value to this game, so even if you hate Jack Black (I can tune him out) it’s going to be good. It’s written by Tim Schafer, who made the Sam and Max, Grim Fandango and Psychonauts games.
and it comes out Tuesday, cocksucker.
Am I the only one who thinks Jack Black is kind of a knob?
Yes, you are in fact, the only one.
EVER.
Naw, Ive always felt the same way. Never really “got” it I guess.
Having played the demo recently, the game itself is a garden variety 3rd person beat-em up, though very well polished. Metal fans will eat it up. The game looks like metal album covers come to life. The design is just awesome. It also appears that there will be several cameos from Metal legends like Ozzy and Lemmy. This isn’t a cheap co-opt of metal culture, it is a love-letter to metal.
ill get this
PS3 > 360
Free porn is the entire reason the internet was created. You know you watch it just as hard as us, Vince, so don’t even try to pretend.
Played the demo on ps3. The gameplay is pretty fun and the soundtrack is awesome. Check er out!
Yeah, have neither PS3 or 360, but love the nightly internet porn.
I’ve been eagerly anticipating this game. The fact they have two Iced Earth songs in the soundtrack made me estatic, and now they get Jellybean the Guitar playing cat to cover Pure Evil. I have a REALLY good feeling about this game.
Jon Schaffer should hire Jellybean as a back up touring and studio guitarist.
And yes, I actually really dig Iced Earth.
I have been waiting for this game for a while. I’ll definatly be picking it up tomorrow. It’s gonna be awesome.
It’s certainly not a game i would spend money on.
God bless the pirate bay.
Its seems like just another way to cash in on the Heavy Metal resurgence. Of course Jack Black would be there to cash the cheques.
I play a lot of video games (it’s partially my job), and I love metal (obviously, or else I wouldn’t be here). And yet, I have no desire to buy this. The demo was decent, but A) I’m over Jack Black, and B) it didn’t do much any other hack-and-slash game hadn’t already done. Also, I’m not an RTS fan, so the multiplayer has no appeal to me either. I really wanted to love this game too.
But I’m all about Uncharted 2 today. Then Forza 3 in two weeks. Then CoD:MW2 two weeks after that, and I’m spent.
Wii?
