As many of you successfully guessed on Friday, the headliner to the MetalSucks-sponsored mystery tour is none other than Arch Enemy. They join the already super sweet bill of Exodus, Arsis and Mutiny Within for the Tyrants of Evil North American Tour.
Arch Enemy just released The Root of All Evil, a recording of some of their best songs from the pre-Angela Gossow era, with Gossow now handling vocals. We have seen AE lay to waste many a venue full of unsuspecting metal heads, and having an extra dose of their classics in the arsenal ain’t gonna save any lives. Add the aforementioned three generations of awesome metal bands, and you’ve got the kick-ass tour of the winter. You will not wanna miss this.

Wow…this tour is fail. You make readers of your blog want to see a tour when it’s only covering 15 dates and only comes as far south as Philly? 1/3 of the dates are even in Canada? With something as hyped as this was it needs more dates to cover all the people you hyped it to.

Yeah, I’m SURE they had total control over when the tour would hit NYC, or anywhere else for that matter. The concert sponsor is relatively insignificant insofar as actually booking the tour; that job is up to promotors, labels, and specific venues. By being a tour sponsor, Metalsucks basically gets to advertise their name on the concert flyers and interview bands, that’s it. So if you think someone gave a big “fuck you to jews”, point the finger elsewhere. Just saying.

I love living in Philadelphia! We get 99% of every metal tour that’s booked in this country. I feel for all of the people who always (or most of the time) get skipped; I’m looking at you, Detroit, Florida, parts of Texas, the Midwestern states, Maine/New Hampshire/Vermont. Guess it pays to live in a densely populated area with a huge metal following.

Wow this tour is a giant let down. Arsis is ok I guess but Arch Enemy I’m not into at all. Exodus I used to love when I was like 13-15yrs old. I’m 33 and obviously my tastes have changed. Big build-up no pay off. This contest was the crack cocaine of contests.

FUCK!!!! Why no Buffalo or Rochester date Arch Enemy owe me a show. The last time they came around I had tickets and the show got canceled the day of. They haven’t been back since. I did see Carcass in Cleveland though.

I said this in an earlier post; a tour sponsor essentially gets to put their name on flyers and interview bands (in this case, they’ll probably get backstage passes, etc. at the NYC show, since both Axl and Vince live there).
For all the people bitching about the lack of tour dates or certain cities/regions being skipped, Metalsucks has absolutely NOTHING to do with this. Booking a tour involves tour managers, labels, concert promoters, and specific venues. So if you’ve got a problem with how this tour is booked or where it’s making stops, don’t bitch at Metalsucks.
