If you read this site regularly you know I’m fascinated with temporary team-ups, like Dave Lombardo playing drums for Metallica or Doc Coyle playing guitar for Lamb of God. I just love these little glimpses into some alternate reality where great bands traded great musicians.

So here’s a good one: according to Metal Underground, Children of Bodom’s Alexi Laiho will be playing guitar with Hypocrisy on their upcoming North American tour.

Says Hypocrisy mastermind Peter Tagtgren:

“We’re very happy to bring Alexi along on this tour and that he’s helping us out with filling the 2nd guitarist position. Funny, the first Children of Bodom show was a support gig for Hypocrisy. Since then me and Alexi have become very good friends. I’ve helped him with producing and he’s helped me by contributing a guitar solo on one of my records with my other band Pain. There will be no shortage of alcohol on this tour that’s for sure.”

So, there ya have it. Two European melodeath heavyweights teaming up. Plus Ensiferum, Ex Deo, Blackguard, and Swashbuckle are all on the tour. Definitely worth a night out.
