SO, ABOUT THIS NEW IMMORTAL ALBUM

immortal decibel coverIt’s really fucking good. I just thought I should go on record as saying that since we haven’t covered this album at all to date.

For what it’s worth, the album sold 3,300 copies in the U.S. in its first week of release, good enough to net a #162 ranking on the Soundscan charts. Kind of amazing for guys that look as ridiculous as these guys do.

Stream the title track from All Shall Fall on Immortal’s MySpace and revel in its grimness and frostbitten-ness.

    Jesus lighten up. These guys do it for fun and laughs. They wouldn’t be Immortal without the makeup. Granted there are bands that do have a serious attitude to being grim and true and its silly but so what? People allow for fantasy in all other forms of entertainment, why should music be different?

    I wasnt into Immortal at all before, but that new album is something pretty damn good.
    I still think they look ridiculous just because the makeup is too “clean”, like if they did it a-la Behemoth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eboNawf14ug then it wouldnt look ridiculous.

      It’s more “clean” because they refer to it as “war-paint” rather than the typical “corpse paint”.

    Immortal is the jam. Personally, I enjoy their over-the-top antics. And seriously, the next time you’re feeling down and out, try watching the video for Call of the Winter Moon. It’s fucking ridiculous, in the best way possible, of course. If you feel Immortal is a bag of suck for trying too hard to be grim and frostbitten, watch a few of these and tell me they really take themselves as seriously as you think they do.

    Immortal are back after a 7 year break. And you know what? “All Shall Fall ..”Its Good. Now fuck off! They hit the mark more often then not, and they’ve been around for 20 years.

    What does your bands six or seventh recording sound like? Do you only play Guitar Hero?

    I was hoping you guys would talk about this album.

    I haven’t been a big fan of a lot of their work after Pure Holocaust(there are some exceptions, and a few songs here and there that I still think fucking rock), but this is probably my second favorite by them by a long shot (the first being FDM).

    No sense in denying it. Most black metal bands, especially the ones from Europe, sympathize or even support “right-wing” nazi politics. The more commercial bands are in the closet about it so it won’t negatively affect their album sales. The less commercial ones like Graveland and Nokturnal Mortem and the rest of their Narrow Squirting Bowel Movement ilk are more vocal about their “true” beliefs and do not give a crap about record sales. Whenever I see photos of this band (immortal), I think about how much Adolf Hitler, a devout Catholic (read Mein Kampf), hated people who were “different”. Social deviants with their rebellious theatrics. Gr1m tr00 and krieg (war) – ‘Heil Hitler’. I laugh and think about the line: you’ll be the first to go first to go first to go first to go first to go. Maybe Immortal should come out of the closet. About their nazi beliefs AND their homosexuality. Pure irony.
