Well, I guess, all I really have to say is that perhaps we don’t give Oceano enough credit. They must be doing something right, ’cause they’re obviously making fuckin’ waves. For example (provided that this isn’t all a joke, which I’m starting to doubt that it is), they’re tearing apart one of the best metal sites I’ve ever seen and they’re getting a lot of attention doing it. I realize that the way they are getting attention may not be the way they wanted to, but the fact that they are accomplishing something that many bands good bands can’t means something, if only for the principle of the situation. Maybe it’s time to reconsider my position on their music. I think I’ll go give Depths a listen. They may have just gained a new fan…..

This is hilarious on so many levels. It’s all opinion anyways, one in which I find hard to take from anyone who doesn’t themselves MAKE music. At the end of the day, who cares what I think, Gary Suarez thinks or anyone other than the individual thinks. I’m a fan of snark undoubtedly but so many people bash hatefully and unnecessarily. Candor goes a long way no matter what you’re talking about. If people spent half as much time making music instead of endlessly critiquing they’d be a lot more personally satisfied and not feel a need to bash bands that even if they are good/bad are making a living off doing what they love.

Really I couldn’t give a shit about the problems of the genre or the scene.

I’d rather listen to rock music, I find metal appropriately ridiculous and eternally self conscious. The only thing good about the whole genre is the talent, the remaining sentiment just seems focused around hating each other.

Don’t get me wrong, people who listen to metal are not stupid, most, however, have the tendency to be narrow minded bigots with huge chips on their shoulders, slugging it out with one another to find out who has the biggest chip. Although maybe this is all why Metalsucks is compulsive reading.
