3, one of the best not-really-a-metal-band to ever be signed to a metal label (Metal Blade) and tour with metal bands (Opeth, etc.), are going to make a video for the song “Rabid Animals” from their new album, Revisions. And that’s all well good, but here’s the really groovy part – they’re giving their fans a chance to be in the video. And you don’t have to spend any money, or win a contest, or anything like that.

Here’s a statement from the band:

“We are shooting our new video for “Rabid Animals” next week and we need your help!

Please send in a 15 second web cam clip of yourself foaming at the mouth and staring at your computer screen, as if you were watching a live concert on TV. If you need help with the foam, try a 1/4 tablet of a alka-seltzer and some toothpaste. Try to make the lighting moody and interesting but not too dark (we need to see you!). These are the basic guidelines but feel free to be creative. Set your web cam to the best quality video setting (h.264 or mpeg4 are good) and then email the clip to: threedomfighter AT yahooDOT com

If the file is too big for your email try sending it via www.sendthisfile.com or www.yousendit.com (both are free)

WARNING -Do not foam onto your keyboard or other sensitive equipment! It doesn’t take much alka-seltzer, if you use a whole one it will probably come out your nose! the sooner you get it to us the better, but the deadline is Thursday October 22!

So, there ya have it. This is the kind of thing I probably would have done back in the day. But 3 are an awesome band, and if you’re inclined to help them out, you definitely should. I know we’ll end up posting this video when it’s ready, if that gives you any incentive.

Revisions comes out October 27 on Metal Blade.
