INSOMNIUM: SYNCHRONIZED HEADBANGING FOR THE WIN

We had the pleasure of catching them on one of their rare U.S. tours a couple of years back with Katatonia, Scar Symmetry and Swallow the Sun, a bill of massively epic proportions. They were indeed mighty. But the audience wasn’t nearly as psyched as they are in this video of the band performing “Down With the Sun” from their latest opus Across the Dark, sent in by MS reader Josh Kidd. This footage was filmed just a week ago in the band’s native Finland, which would explain the crowd’s level of enthusiasm. I’d love to see Insomnium in Finland… in a forest or on a boat, perhaps… that would be epic.

Definitely a lot better when Attack Attack! does it. Maybe it’s the fact that these guys don’t have douchey haircuts, v-neck shirts, or shitty music.

First time I saw Lacuna Coil, I couldn’t stop laughing because they choreographed just about everything they did on stage.
Insomium are such a good band. We have been lucky enough to grab an opening slot for them on their upcoming UK tour with Swallow The Sun.

Inssomnium is awesome. Above the Weeping World is easily in my top ton favorite albums ever.

yeah bro, EPIC is the word that comes to mind when I think of insomnium. Insanely underrated band. 4 albums out and I dig almost 75% of the tracks, that is sheer quality. Best shit is they don’t have any out-of-the-world guitarist, but still end up making eargasmic music. Weighed down with Sorrow is among the very best compositions IMHO.
