speaking of skinny....

"Down in it" was partial rip off of "DIG IT" from the far superior Skinny Puppy (Trent himself has confirmed this)

Skinny Puppy Dig it
NIN DIT

From Orge's amazing lyrics and complicated vocal production, Goettle and Cevin's insane layered and multi instrumental genius, they always were far superior to most industrial bands, including NIN if you want to call them industrial.

They have always put on an amazing live show with props and some sort of unifying narrative.
Skinny Puppy Live 1991

NIN are a good band, of course its only my opinion that SP are better.
But if you like NIN you should check out Skinny Puppy too.
Mind the Perpetual intercouse, Too Dark Park, and Last Rights are good places to start.
Their more guitar oriented albums are The Process and Rabies (w/Al Jourgenson).

I remember when it first came out and I believe it was Music Plus that put it on sale with a "If you don't like it, return it policy" which was rare at that time. But i had never heard of TVT records so i figured it wasn't going to be any good. Man was I wrong.

"Pretty Hate Machine" was the first 'heavy' cd I ever purchased, at age 12, and it still remains one of my favorite albums ever; can't believe it's 20 years old!
