THE “DARK INSANITY” OF ARCH ENEMY

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009 at 5:30pm by Axl Rosenberg

Hey, lookit! We just debuted a new Arch Enemy video, “Beast of Man,” earlier this month, and the band already has another one. Sweeeeet.

So here’s “Dark Insanity.” The track comes off the band’s recent Century Media release The Root of All Evil, and the footage is taken from their killer DVD, Tyrants Of The Rising Sun – Live In Japan.

Also: a friendly reminder (as though you’d forgotten!) that Arch Enemy will headline the MetalSucks sponsored Tyrants of Evil North American Tour 2010 with Exodus, Arsis and Mutiny Within starting in January. Get dates here.

Its alright I suppose, but nothing special. The thing with Arch Enemy is they get boring really fast, imo.

tyrants of the rising sun was siiiiiiiiiiick!!! i normally dont keep video files on my laptop cuz i need the space for all my music (cuz my hard drive is pitifully small and my music library is a behemoth), but as soon as i bought TotRS, i ripped it 2 my laptop and it hasnt moved since. thats how FUCKING AWESOME this dvd is.

Exodus and Arch Enemy – it’s too bad that they are not playing this tour without other bands. I still can not believe the hellish noise that pours out of this woman’s mouth.

    there’s a dirty joke in there…somewhere.

Maybe it’s just pining for the olden days, but I really prefer Johan Liiva’s vocal style to Gossow’s – especially after hearing the rework of Beast of Man. Of course, the song (Beast of Man) just sounds really sterile now – more overproduced than a matter of going through the motions, but there might be a bit of that in there as well.

Ah well, I’ve still got the old albums, so I’ll go enjoy them. AE lost me after Wages of Sin anyway.

To bad AE started sucking after Wages of Sin

Last time I saw them the Amott brothers had a hideously OTT guitar tone on their leads – it was like being poked at by a titanic beak. Maybe it wasn’t helped by the Brixton Academy’s sound that night though.

I really like Michael’s other band Spiritual Beggars, I prefer that more classic rock side of his playing. It’s a shame they don’t get more attention in Europe and the US.

Has anyone noticed that Skeletonwitch’s vocalist sounds a lot like Angela Gossow?
