LESS BORN OF OSIRIS MORE ANIMALS AS LEADERS PLEASE
Thursday, October 22nd, 2009 at 11:30am by Vince NeilsteinThough we may question his fashion choices and dubious association with Danzig historicists Born of Osiris we do actually really like guitar wunderkind Tosin Abasi, especially his solo “band” Animals as Leaders. In case you’re averse to good music or just plain ig’nant, Animals as Leaders released their (his?) debut album this past Spring and like yo, that shit is mad good. Check out “On Impulse” from that record above.
SMNnews.com tells me that those of you in Dallas get to see the band perform a headline set in between dates of their limited Fall run with Between the Buried and Me and Veil of Maya. That’s pretty cool and all but can’t the band do a real tour? Come onnnnnnn!

It’s such an amazing tour but i live in the east coast of Canada so the odds of me getting to that are none existent
I agree with this statement.
I think the intro is overly long at two minutes, but then it settles into a nice groove. The way the drums interweave through the song, as opposed to just laying down the rhythm, is very cool.
Not to mention that it was produced by Misha “Bulb” Mansoor from Periphery.
Good ol’ Animals As Leaders… one of the best albums of the year, without a doubt.
Agree… Fucking LOVE this album
tell him to come to canada you cunts
Damn…thats fucking great! he is the one that replaced Matt who is now the bass player of Veil of Maya
The Dallas show will see Animals As Leaers open for Prosthetic labelmates (and resident Texans) Scale The Summit. Road trip!
Man, that would be rad, then.
I’m making the trip from houtson to dallas most deff.
Horrible tour. Also, the AAL album had some potential, but drags on for way too long. There are some really cool bits, but it just feels unfocused in the end. Regardless, I completely agree with the title, except by “Less BOO,” I want no BOO.
Disagree entirely with that, I actually find the best songs to be at the end of the album. But hey, each to his own.
I didn’t mean that just the end feels unfocused. I meant that as a whole, it feels unfocused. There are good songs scattered throughout, but they just end up feeling lifeless, which is a shame considering how good some of the good parts are.
Ziltoid, by any chance do you review on metal-archives.com?
I’m making a roadtrip to Illinois for this. Gotta see aal! They have animosity’s old drummer playing with them so it’s sure to kick massive amounts of ass. Oh ya, fuck you ziltoid. I hope you and your inflated sense of self importance give each other aids.
You couldn’t come up with anything better than that? That doesn’t even make sense.
have you ever heard of a hardcore band called Reflux, Ziltoid?
No I have not. Any reason for asking?
Tosin Abasi (Animals as Leaders mastermind) was in Reflux before AAL. They’re meh, nothing compared to AaL.
Wasn’t it just a little while ago you guys were all over Born of Osiris, fellating them? You guys change musical tastes faster than a pothead changes moods.
This is my fav AaL song yay! Everything this guy does is amazing. BoO, not so much.
Scale The Summit is headlining the Dallas show, NOT Animals As Leaders.
