SUFFOCASTREAM

closeofachapterIf you’ve never seen Suffocation live, well, you need to. Not only do they kill, but Frank Mullen is one of the funniest fucking front men ever.

I haven’t gotten to listen to the band’s new live album (actually recorded in ’05), The Close Of A Chapter: Live In Quebec City, yet, so I don’t know it captures Mr. Mullen in all his gallows humor glory. But the record is now streaming right here, and even if all it does it showcase what a powerful live act this legendary death metallers are, well, that’s reason enough to give it a listen.

The Close Of A Chapter: Live In Quebec City comes out October 27 on Relapse.

When I saw them live, at summer slaughter, the guy went on a 5 minute rant about religion. It got so annoying I left and didnt even stay for Necrophagist. So I hope I dont have to see them live again, even though they shred.

Brutal, these guys are gods! And Frank Mullen’s Noo Yawk accent is SO awesome! I’m a New Yorker, so i’m allowed to make fun of it. It’s awesome. GREAT cd. Probably a cash grab from Relapse, but great live cd.

  • B-dizzle

It’s funny cause this was already released once, but it was released by the band originally, so it didn’t get much time in the spotlight.

Yeah, I’ve had this record for 3 years now.

      And it slays.

If you could take NYC and turn it into a person, that person’s even bigger New Yorker of a cousin would be Frank Mullen.

Seen them about 7 times over the last five years and they’re only getting better. They cover their catalog really well when they tour. The live show nowadays actually comes off more brutal than some of the recorded work.

Suffocation sure does bring the yawns.

I may be wrong, but I’m pretty sure….wait, let me check my iPod……yeah, this must have been floating around awhile because I got this when I put their discography on my iPod. That was back in te spring, before Blood Oath leaked. Not a huge fan either way, but I was surprised to see this is only coming out now.

Frank is also responsible for the truly glorious Death Metal Spirit Fingers, as explained by the always excellent Invisible Oranges metal blog here: http://invisibleoranges.com/2009/10/death-metal-spirit-fingers.html
