Last week we gave Fed Through the Teeth Machine, the incredible new album from death/grind/prog pioneers The Red Chord, four out of five horns, and, honestly, we’re not even sure that that’s a high enough rating. Certain to make many year-end lists, Fed Through the Teeth Machine displays The Red Chord doing what they do best: defying expectations, breaking genre conventions, and tearing the listener a new asshole.

Metal Blade will release Fed Through the Teeth Machine this coming Tuesday, October 27, but as always, MetalSucks has ya covered: we’re streaming the entire album now through Monday, so you can hear how awesome it is before you buy it. We hope you love it as much as we do.

And while we’re on the topic, why you don’t read our interview with The Red Chord’s Gunface about the making of the album?

Not kicking my ass as hard as Prey For Eyes did. But Fucking kicking my ass nonetheless. The lack of a second guitar will take some getting used to but this is really sick. “Ingest the Ashes” is my fav so far.

  19. This album is actually incredible!
So much shit in there to try and get to grips with, which is the making of every great album.

Was lucky enough to play with these guys in the smallest venue they played in the U.K this year, and it was awesome, the new stuff is amazing live.

  20. Benito says:

can’t wait to see them live with GWAR on tuesday!

  21. Sean Pulatie says:

Before I say this, I love this band. These guys are amazing. And the stuff I’m listening to right now fucking slays.

I know that Oceano isn’t mentioned in this article, which is surprising considering the amount of hatred they get from this site. But why is Oceano so hated? Maybe I’m missing something.

I’m not saying that The Red Chord and Oceano are alike, or even in the same ballpark. They’re two clearly different metal bands. But I think both are fantastic in their own way.

If someone can explain to me why Oceano is so hated (preferably without using “gay” or any variation thereof), maybe I’ll change my mind. I guess I just have yet to see a convincing argument.

    • msv81 says:

I’m indifferent to Oceano; I don’t have an outright hatred of them, but they certainly don’t “do” anything for me and as such I avoid listening to them. Basically, a lot of people tend to think they’re a generic, copycat band within a generic yet popular and thus “scene” genre (deathcore); if you go read Dallas Coyle’s latest post about his love for/appreciation of deathcore, there are endless posts arguing for and against the entire genre and specific bands in it – i.e. Whitechapel, Oceano, Born of Osiris, All Shall Perish, etc. Any point pertaining to why someone would dislike Oceano can be found in those replies, so go check it out; you’ll definitely find a lot of “they suck because they’re fucking gay”, but you’ll also find some well written, deeply thought out arguments for both sides.

Either way, you shouldn’t allow the opinion(s) of other people persuade or dissuade you from liking a band. If you think Oceano is good, then listen to them, it’s really that simple. Musical preference/taste is totally subjective. If you allow your own opinion about a band to be changed by someone else’s opinion, you’re only diluting yourself because, honestly, what the fuck does anyone know about what does or does not sound good to YOU?

    • SonOF says:

Oceano, unlike TRC, sound VERY SIMILAR to far too many bands (most noticeably WhiteChapel). This is why I don’t like them…I find they boring, uninspired, unoriginal, generic…nothing new or exciting. Their song structures are boring and monotonous. The Red Chord on the other hand, always push the envelope, are constantly innovating, cannot be pigeonholed. SO yeah, I think Oceano are hated for all of the above reasons, as well as other, more superficial (”scene”) concerns (like their fans are young or dress alike, or whatever). I don’t bother with a band’s image or their fanbase, I dislike the band because I think they are boring musically.

  22. Civeta Dei says:

Does anyone hear the guy sounding as if he got gut-punched on Martyrs and Disappearing Acts?
    I lolled at that.
    Long live the Chord.

  23. SonOF says:

    ALBUM of THE YEAR .

    For serious.

The Red Chord never fail to deliver…and this may be their best work

  24. Mark says:

Does “The Ugliest Truth” feature the singer from Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza? Sounds like him @ 00:43.

  25. Kevin says:

    This album is fucking sick
