NACHTMYSTIUM’S BLACK MEDDLE, PT. II FINALLY IN THE WORKS
Monday, October 26th, 2009 at 3:30pm by Axl Rosenberg
Nachtmystium’s Black Meddle, Pt. 1 was one of the best albums of 2008, ending up at the top or near the top of most MS staffers’ top ten lists that year. So, naturally, Nachtmystium fans everywhere have been asking the question, “Hey, where the fuck is Black Meddle, Pt. II?”
Well, hey, guess what? The band has issued an update to that very query on their MySpace page:
“We’re currently working on material for ‘Black Meddle Part II’ (official title to be announced) and will be doing a demoing pre-production session with Sanford Parker in October.
“The new material is reminiscent of ‘Assassins’ with more of a rock and roll edge over all. Our love for post-rock and industrial (ala MINISTRY, KILLING JOKE, etc) is even more present this time around.
“We’re hoping to make a record that will continue to push extreme music into uncharted territories.
“Recording for the new record will begin in early January and we project to have the record out in March or April.”
Holy shit, did they say INDUSTRIAL? Remember how much people freaked out when they used a saxophone on Black Meddle, Pt. I? How are the tr00 kvltists gonna react if Nachtmystium get all Al Jourgensen on our asses? Do you think their heads will explode, or since bands like Gnaw Their Tongues and Anaal Nathrakh are using industrial elements in their black metal already, do think it’ll be all good in the hood? Guess we’ll find out next March or April.
While we’re waiting, don’t forget that Nachtmystium will be playing support for Marduk on their upcoming MetalSucks co-sponsored U.S. Plague Tour 2009. There’s some other sweet bands on the bill, too, like Mantic Ritual, Merrimack and Black Anvil (on select dates). Here are tour dates:

Assassins was good and if you disagree you are a close minded racist.
Seconded.
Wow… Ministry and Killing Joke? This could be awesome.
Just cannot get into this band, dunno why.
Assassins wasn’t bad. I’m curious to see where they go with the new one.
the ocean already made THE post-metal or whatever you want to call it record. I don’t think anything will ever top precambrian
Nothing wrong with industrial black metal…
check Aborym and Spektr for a treat
Spektr is INCREDIBLE. Near Death Experience is definitely one of my all time favorite albums.
You should try thier Mescalyne EP
I second that, and I also recommend Havoc Unit’s h.IV+. It ain’t really black metal, but it is fucking harshly industrial.
Heard it, as well as Et Fugit… Both are excellent, but as a full album, Near Death Experience is by far my favorite.
If I had to guess I think “Industrial” in this case means massive, yet minimalist riffing and/or anthemic shout-along choruses. I wouldn’t expect any ball-peen hammer samples or electronic drums from these guys…
Which is great, because that’s what the Nacht’ do pretty well, anyway.
Definitely excited. Also, I am guaranteed to be at the DNA lounge December 6th. I missed these dudes the last time around, and I’m not gonna make that mistake twice.
!!!
as long as it doesn’t sound like Doomsday Derelicts
Nachtmystium is recording a new album ?? Well, that sucks. Fuck these losers, hopefully Flake Judd will finally choke on a dick before then.
BTW…Doomsday Derelicts was actually decent. Best thing they have done since Eulogy IV
You’re a bit bipolar writing comments like that, aren’t you?
Nah…. the second comment in my post was directed at the person hoping the new stuff is not similar to ‘Doomsday….’ I heard that ep recently, and it doesn’t even sound like them, which is certainly a good thing.
Woo
Can’t wait for the new album, i’ve enjoyed most of their albums
Nazimystium? No thanks.
I’ve never heard a single racist statement from anyone in this band. They were kicked from the Scion Fest over ignorant bullshit like that. I think they should have been a lot more careful about who they did business with when they let some dumbshit Nazi label release their demo but that was pretty much their only transgression.
I don’t think it’s worth losing your shit over and ignoring really great music because they did business with a few dumbasses. I do business with dumb/racist/sexist/assholes everyday in my office.
Aaron is the man!!!
Assassins was ZZZZZ, more Instinct:Decay
I cannot comprehend the hype these guys have.
Saw them with Opeth, they were easily the worst “professional” live band I’ve ever seen. I felt like I was watching a high-school battle of the bands. The music is simplistic to the point of stupidity, as well as extremely repetitive, and well, they can barely play their instruments. I laughed, involuntarily, at the guitar solo. Utter garbage.
Well you sound like a humorless prick who doesn’t enjoy fun. Good luck with that.
last album was good, but way overrated.
Youre half right. The last album SUCKED.
there is no black metal in Gnaw Their Tongues. Matter of fact, no industrial either
