PHILLIES OR YANKEES? TWO PLANE CRASHES OR A SWINE FLU EPIDEMIC PLEASE.

This is literally a nightmare come true for me and my fellow fans of the undoubtedly most UN-metal Mets: do I root for the Phillies or Yankees? This is a perplexing conundrum indeed.

On one hand you have the “root for the home team” thing. On the other hand, those Phillies are shit-talking bastards.

I think I gotta go Phils. Root for the National League (DH is for weenies). I’d love to see Yankee fans all that much more disappointed, because to them anything less than a World Series title is considered a failure. And what’s good for the Phillies this year will ultimately make our rivalry with them that much more heated next year… and an eventually Mets victory that much sweeter.

    The Mets BLOW, don’t be bitter about it. After all those years of dominating the Phils, it’s our turn now! Granted, the Yankees are most certainly “better” on paper (not to mention a payroll that’s $88 million more than Philly’s), but all the experts and pundits considered the Dodgers as 2nd only to the Yanks and we all saw what happened to them.

    i agree with Vince being from north jersey and being a mets fan right now is awfully tough but i think i’m not rooting for anybody. but i would be much happier if the phillies won this thing. and if there is a game 6 i’m already going and didn’t have to pay for the ticket so i may win as a baseball fan anyway

    My god, I completely forgot that this site wrote about the Mets. I guess trying to ignore them since May has helped. Frankly, I’m happy that they were out of it so early this year, instead of messing with everyone and providing them false hope until the last game of the season. My beloved Mets just lvoe to fail.     For the idiots that haven’t heard of it, it ran until 2008 or so, and just ripped apart crappy baseball journalism/media coverage. It also drilled in the point that Darin Erstad was a punter in college. It is an amazing site, and even reading the old stuff is still mildly humorous…

      This site isn’t exactly eager to discuss hilariously noteworthy nuggets of Met ineptitude, such as two consecutive 11th-hour collapses in 2007/2008, the more expedited collapse in 2009, and most importantly the fact that the Cubs will probably win another World Series before the Mets do.

      i can agree it is somewhat metal. but playing half the game and being a big fat oaf is likened to a douche at a concert wearing the t-shirt of the band he is going to see. As Jeremy Piven said in the underrated college flick PCU “don’t be that guy” i’m sure glad i’m not. a guy like that got knocked on his ass at the EyeHateGod boat show this weekend was pretty good

        I just can’t deal with it anymore, Mets fans must be made of sterner stuff. Milton Bradley and Kevin Gregg did it for me, I watched the first few weeks of the season and enough was enough. NBA, EPL, and Champions League can have my attention for now.

          granted you guys have a much longer history of ineptitude but i can never understand giving up on a team any team in fact. i mean im a NJ kid who is an islander fan i have it pretty rough right there as well as the knicks. but im just too much of a fan to quit. every season begins and ends and the mets’ season ended rather quickly injury, management, general lack of talent on the field but pitchers and catchers report in i dunno 4 months i always manage to get excited. hey at least we’re not pirates fans…

    I’m a huge mets fan, which is why I’m rooting for the yankees hard for the world series. I hate the phillies far more than the yankees, atleast the yankees are from new york. Like, if this was a mets vs. red sox world series, wouldn’t you expect yankee fans to root for the mets?

      I’m with you on this one. I’m far more interested in football and basketball than baseball, but baseball can be great too, and as a New Yorker, I want to support a NY team, even if they’re the goddamn Yankees. Also, I don’t want any team in any sport to win any sort of championship two years in a row unless it’s the Giants.

    I’m rooting for neither. Phillies fans don’t deserve another WS victory to begin with, let alone a second straight WS victory. As for the Yankees, my favorite Yankee WS moment was seeing them get their asses kicked by my Marlins in six games.

    I love the people who bitch about how the Yankees win due to their payroll. Helped them out alot the last nine years huh? Especially last year when they missed the playoffs altogethr. Other teams could spend as much too, but they just won’t because they’re not as profitable and would probably end up bankrupt. Maybe they’re just cheap? The Yankees payroll is also actually less than it was last year.

    Not to worried about the pitchers batting. Sabathia averaged something like .270 when he pitched for the Brewers last year & Burnett and Pettite both spent time in the NL. I think we’ll be fine.
