Wow, damn.
I posted this thing about two years ago. Yeah, I looked like shit, mostly because I was growing my hair out and was damn clueless. I am from Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
And by the way, I was more into black metal, hence the leather pants and Darkthrone shirt.

Nice! When I was at Catholic High School (I’m not now nor have I ever been catholic), my band covered Anti-Nowhere League’s “So What” and we all got suspended.

i dont think you would have had to mask your lyrics in growls, a lot of music played at school functions is just as raunchy. hell our faculty was oblivious to the message of 50 cents’ candy shop song. and they cheered along while the cheerleaders danced to it.

Ah man, this brings me back. For a while dating way back to freshman year of high school, I was the vocalist of a band called Sour Diesel (hence my name). All our members went to the same school, so we played at whatever school events they would let us play at, which was pretty much anytime we asked. We had assemblies on a regular basis and we played at those, as well as formal dances where metal was completely inappropriate. We thought we were so funny and clever naming our band after a strain of weed, so all the students would get it but none of the teachers would…I remember the first time we played we had a whole auditorium cheering at full volume just for our name, and all the faculty were confused as shit. We also used the luxury of unintelligible vocals to our advantage, singing songs about drugs and kinky sex and all sorts of debauchery four feet away from our principal who just smiled and clapped and tried to make sense of it. When we started out our music scared the shit out of people but we did become somewhat of a fixture at the school until we all graduated, just from playing at a shitload of school events for 4 years. I don’t think we were nearly good enough to succeed anywhere except high school but…good times anyway.

I used to play some death metal licks in the hallway of my high school. I got suspended for a week… I guess you can’t do a vocal/guitar cover of Addicted to Vaginal Skin without someone getting offended in fucking mormon utah.

awesome! i did karaoke at a big lan-party some years ago, guns ‘n roses welcome to the jungle, and i screamed my lungs out and people loved it and i made it to the “next round”. then i totally blew it when i tried to sing the next song with my regular voice :P (europe – final countdown)

very embarassing but no regrets ;)

I had 43% Burnt as my background music for a computer project I had to do my senior year. The teacher started to play it, in front of the entire class, and right when Dimitri’s vocals started he said out loud, “What the fuck is this shit?” Needless to say, I passed the project, and got a good laugh out of scaring an old man!
