LEAVE IT TO MAYNARD JAMES KEENAN TO MAKE A GREAT VIDEO TO WATCH HIGH

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009 at 12:30pm by Axl Rosenberg

I did actually buy V is for Vagina, the debut album from Maynard James Keenan’s Puscifer, but I never really got into it. Still, Maynard is the man, and this video for Puscifer’s “The Mission” is pretty cool – especially if you’re, uh, in the right state of mind.

Bonus: the female vocals are by Milla Jovovich. Jovovich seems to exclusively appear in unwatchable movies, but she’s hot, so, y’know, I’ll give her a pass. Any friend of Maynard’s is okay in my book.

The song comes from a new Puscifer EP, C is for (Please Insert Sophomoric Genitalia Reference Here), which I didn’t even know was coming out but will apparently be released on November 10.

That video was directed by a dude named Meats Meier, by the way. I wonder if he knows Bacon Jew?

Saw this video last night, it’s decent but I wish they had changed it up a bit, it’s sort of the same thing all the way through.

That said, I agree with you on “V Is For Vagina” and Puscifer in general; I can’t really get into it and I consider the project by far Maynard’s worst. I saw their first show ever in Vegas earlier this year, where they debuted “The Mission” and Mila was there to perform live; it was the highlight of the entire show, as she looked and sounded incredible. I do really dig “The Mission”, as well as the two songs that appeared on the Underworld 1 and 2 soundtracks, though.

I’m giving the band another chance on Thursday when I fly back to Vegas to catch them on the beginning of their West Coast run.

Even if Tool is one of my favorite bands ever, Puscifer really fucking sucks

  4. Zoker says:

Ok… but did you watch it while not being stoned?…. cause it’s pretty awful…

I can definitely live without Puscifier, but Tool is one of the greatest things to ever come to the planet, but that’s not why I’m here today.

Milla is only in unwatchable movies? COME ON MAN!!!! Don’t let the abortion that was Ultraviolet skew your senses! She was in Dazed and Confused, Zoolander, The Fifth Element, and the Resident Evil movies. I’m biased about RE since I’m a complete zombie geek (yes, I consider those zombie movies), but The Fifth Element might be one of the most underrated sci-fi movies out there!!
And if you don’t agree with me, well… then…. I just don’t like you.

  8. Josh says:

If while watching the video none of you got the ideo to look around your screen, or to look a little closer to all the little things going on in the video, I can see how you would think it was dumb. It had me entertained, watched it twice.

  9. Phil says:

Hey, Milla was in the Fifth Element, and that movie kicks ass! “SMOKE YOU!… wrong answer” Like the song Maynard.

  10. SP420 says:

I love this project. He should drop that joke Tool band and focus on this full time.

  11. Bobby Tims says:

  14. loganarchy says:

V is for Vagina sucked, but V is for Vagina was AWESOME. A couple remixes made it that better…

Also, the singing on Converge’s “Cruel Bloom” sounds like Maynard’s singing in Puscifer. Just wanted to throw that out there.

  15. SourDeez says:

The Fifth Element is an unwatchable movie? Huh?

  16. Robert Nixon says:

    This sounds WAAAY like Portishead.

I prefer the harder stuff from Maynard, but this isn’t completely terrible either.

  17. groverXIII says:

Personally, I didn’t like Puscifer much at first, but it really kinda grew on me. I dig the song, and the video was pretty fucked up.
