And “rape” would be an appropriate word for what Scott Stapp does to the song. Not that it was ever going to be any good – this is one of the most deplorable rock acts on the planet, after all – but holy shit, does he miss some of these notes. I’d feel bad for him, but he’s a worthless woman beating fuck, so really I just hope that he gets nut cancer. At least with no testicles he could hit those high ones like it was still 1998.

Yeah those bastards. After reading this I just went out and bought “Full Circle” and I blame the staff
at MS because if they didn’t make fun of it I would have never done that!
I enjoy ripping bands I hate as much as the next guy, but I think this is an extenuating circumstance. Giving this coverage forces me to actually accept the cruel fact that something as horrendous as a new Creed record actually exists. I know it’s selfish, but it seems like a fair request…and it’s the right thing to do.

Given the range Stapp sings – I guess it would be a mid-tenor – why would those notes be hard to hit? Someone forgot his vocal exercises. And when did they add another guitar player? I miss Myles already.

Man even for Creed this sounds really bad. Back in the day people could say what they wanted about
the douche called Stapp but I liked and still like some of Tremonti’s riffs from MOP or Human Clay. This sounds like accoustic Christian campfire circle jerk soundtrack and Scott sounds like someone just
unplugged his autotune.
What is it about Creed that causes such hate though? For me they started laying the cheese on too thickly
after the first album and honestly Christian angst is a little cheesy to start with. Still as long as my memmory
has connections to some songs from MOP which were during my beloved high school days I will still go
back and listen sometimes. Guess it’s a guilty pleasure just like Linkin Park. Whatever, people take this shit
too seriously anyways and I really don’t give a rats ass what some Hot Topic clad, pimple faced douchenozzle has to say about anything I like anyways.
And another thing, FUCK Mark Tremonti- whom i think is an awesome guitar player for drinkin the wine and re-uniting with this douchebag.
I like Tremonti too but WTF I doubt a single person here is any better of a human being then Stapp.

I say congrats to these guys for reuniting. I would prefer they do something more dark and
forboding so we can really see Tremonti’s chops but hey it’s goofball teenage music. People

you can’t find shittier bands then this to hate then you are not looking hard enough. Honestly I’d
rather listen to some Human Clay or MOP then some of the shit the Metalsucks guys like such
as Horse or IWABO.

Now there is a band who are actual douches. If I had to live with either Scott Stapp or Kerry King
for a year I’d chose Stapp. Dude just makes corny life affirming music. Kerry King actually
is a piece of shit. Fuck him and his stupid band. Their curtain call came a long time ago and any
relevance they have expired a long time ago too.

But since this is a forum, here are my two cents: Creed is terrible. AlterBridge is good. In fact, I recently made a short film about the Creed reunion tour. Some find it funny, others don’t. If you’re interested, check my URL
I guess I’m coming off as a fanboy but that’s cool. Creed are not all that great but definitely don’t deserve
the hate they get. They were an immensly successful group who in my opinion suffer the most
for a completely un-musical reason. They were ill-fated in choosing an ideology that is currently
in the hibernation of the conservative-liberal cyclical fading and resurgence. Conservatism
was VERY poorly represented for the last eight years which caused a liberal resurgence.
The public is pretty fickle though because the potential enactment of real life social1stic policies
has caused a massive right shift in America which is most obvious in the much-maligned
Fox News being number 1 over all others( which are ALL liberal).
Simply put, Creed is hated because of the ideas behind their music. On the surface you have
regular, slightly pretentious card-board cut-out generic post-grunge hard rock stars. That’s all they
should be. The songs are
completely unoffensive( unless you are diabetic) and most intend to be life affirming. Oh my god!
They are trying to edify people, crucify the fuckers! No they are cheesey and that is their worst
crime and there is FAR more cheesey shit in the world.
Conservativism is the often-ugly truth you have allways known in it’s most practical and pure
form. Intelectuals are often clever enough to rationlize their way out of it if they are too weak
to deal with ugliness. It is something that generally grows over time from experience.

Kids hate conservativism the most because it is a rebellion against all the mature themes of this
existence they are trying to escape from. The hatred with Creed is VERY closely tied to this
shift in the country to being more liberal. I don’t especially love them but I just want to point out
that this is more a trend then anything.
That and this video does suck besides anything else.
As much as I agree with most of your points, Scott Stapp is hardly a role model regardless of his ideology. I think some of the hate is justified, the music and personality of their lead singer are poor. I think they’re hated more for insincere derivation than on the basis of faith or where they lie on the political spectrum.
Well I think the fact that I can name several stars with equally horrible
personalities and often worse do not receive hate in the same
ammounts as Creed or with nearly as much vigor. I don’t disagree with what
you say about Stapp but I don’t think anything about him was unuasual for
any rockstar. Scott Weiland was a woman-beater too. Brandon Boyd
of Incubus is practically a carbon-copy left wing version of Stapp with
equal ammounts naive pretense and overall douchbaggery.
Still noone gets hate like Creed. Truthfully the real issue is that these kids
are projecting hatred of their parents onto Creed. Let’s be honest, the
band is not good or bad enough for anyone to care that much.

I knew writing this post that you might not be for all of these, but since the point you made was to defend conservatism, I attacked conservatism, as represented by Creed and the American right wing. It’s really more about showing that my hatred for conservatism is not based on youthful rebellion (I hate Communism and Economic Libertarianism equally, but these are “rebellious” philosophies.) but rather on my analysis of life. I might become a conservative some day, but I might also get a frontal lobotomy.

I will never understand the absolute hatred this band receives – and by that I mean a hatred far in excess of other bands who arguably worse. And that’s a lot of bands because I like Creed. Though I acknowledge the reasons why that’s a shameful thing to admit. But it took me seven years before I could come out openly as a Creed fan to my family and friends. I’ve been through too much and lost too many to turn back now.
The self-satisfied shooting fish in a barrel comments I see here are far more risible than any Stapping in my life. Papa Stapp is a bit of a twat, has a messiah complex and can’t sing live – well roll out the firing squad. Jesus. Can’t you see those flaws are exactly why us Stappets worship the ego ramp he walks on?
I will add that I think Alter Bridge are an excellent band, significantly ‘better’ than Creed – and a fair few people that hate Creed like them… which is nice. Nice like a bear cub. The Creed reunion seems to have come about because AB haven’t really taken off at all in the US. I’m glad Alter Bridge will be continuing regardless because Myles Kennedy is an incredibly talented musician.
