He had a couple of good riffs, namely “Cowboys from Hell” (the song itself). Domination ??? He fucking STOLE that song. That is the exact same fucking riff/bridge/’breakdown’ and rythem the whole was through as Iron Maiden’s “Sea of Madness” off the Somewhere in Time album.

I love plenty of simplistic music….plenty. However, his breakdowns were dumbed down to the point of retardation…he did this to ensure his music would be easily accesable to the masses.

Dude, its not even worth arguing about Vinny Paul…. the dude SUCKED. Fucking HORRIBLE drummer, when you take into account the popularity of his band, how long he’s been playing and how ‘extremem’ their fans think the music is. He is BARELY one step above Lars Ulrich…barely.

I certainly don’t think bands should stagnate, they should evolve as their career moves on. However, there is a BIG difference between evolving and simply TREND hopping, which is EXACTLY what Pantera did.

Its more than a subset….it is the vast majority of their fans that fit this description. Also, I go to plenty of concerts, and the only time I’ve ever seen redneck meatheads was at a Morbid Angel gig I went to , who happend to be opening for Pantera. These meatheads had no clue what him them when Morbid Angel went on….the music went straight over their heads. But, When Pantera came on, they all ‘jumpedthefuckup” and began their cacophony of ” O’Doyle Rules !!!”

These dudes are absolutely badass. They may be heavily influenced by Pantera but so what? It’s still cool. Seth Uldricks is a hell of a vocalist. They did have a drummer at one point but I don’t know what happened to him….I gave this album an 8/10… Some of the drum sounds/production was a lil sub par n’ there could’ve been some better solos but other than that, pretty fuckin’ awesome in my opinion.

BWAHAHAHA. Dude. I have Agent Orange on vinyl, as well as Black Metal, and Cowboys From Hell. I know you don’t know me but plenty of people like all the bands that you “deem worthy” of being “real metal” and also like Pantera. Just face it, YOU don’t like Pantera. That doesn’t mean they’re not real metal. And I’m not some massive Pantera fan getting defensive. I don’t think they’re all that great, and I haven’t listened to too much Pantera since I was 16, but I still throw them on every now and then and that shit is metal, whether The Great Biff Tannen approves or not.

Were you even alive during the reign of Pantera? I’m not the hugest fan but your accusations are ridiculous. Dimebag was a very talented guitarist, he wrote some killer riffs. The solo and breakdown at the end of Domination kick so much ass it’s ridiculous, of course you probably don’t think so because the breakdown consists of one chugging note, which I guess in your book is automatically “dumbed down” because you’re incapable of seeing the tastefulness in simplicity. And to say that Vinny Paul isn’t a talented drummer…you’ve clearly never held a single drumstick in your hand.
