R.I.P. CHUCK BISCUITS

Thursday, October 29th, 2009 at 3:19pm by Axl Rosenberg

Former Danzig drummer Chuck Biscuits (né Charles Montgomery) has passed away from throat cancer. He was only 44.

There’s never anything you can really say in these situations… Chuck was an awesome drummer and was way too young to die. Our thoughts are with his friends and family.

Here he is with Danzig… I saw this video on Zena Metal and it seemed appropriate… she has more that you should go check out.

  1. My condolences. Chuck still pleases my ears with Black Flag and Danzig 1,2,3 & 4.

RIP Chuck. That Danzig 1-4 lineup was rock-freakin-solid.

Truth be old, I don’t really give a shit for post-Misfits Danzig. I haven’t really listened to much, in all fairness, but it doesn’t seem nearly as good.

most of it’s shit, but chuck destroyed the drums on it nonetheless…

You’re not even a fan of the first s/t record????

    • Double D says:

You’re kidding. Danzig’s I and II were masterpieces. Danzig III was a great album, as well. That surprises me Grover, usually you and I see eye to eye on music. You should really give it a whirl, just humor me. Listen to Lucifuge (2nd album) and let me know what you think.

I may just do that. As I mentioned, I haven’t really listened to much of it. Maybe hearing nothing but ‘Mother’ on the radio for so long gave me a bad impression.

Once, on a whim, I listened to the song ‘Thirteen’ because I was curious to hear the original version after listening to Johnny Cash’s version. I liked The Man In Black’s version better, but it wasn’t too bad. Not really enough to make me say, “Man, I need to hear more Danzig,” though.

Danzig IV is great too. I wasn’t a fan of the single “Cantspeak” but there are some really solid songs on it.

He was awesome in Social Distortion, let’s not forget that.

He’s a massive influence on me as a drummer. RIP Sir, you shall be missed

  10. I really liked the organic feel he brought to Danzig. He knew when to be creaky, and when to go for the throat. Rest in peace.

  12. pigchop says:

****UPDATE: Rumors are beginning to swirl that this story is some kind of elaborate hoax involving a Facebook page and several months’ worth of correspondence from someone claiming to be Chuck.****
