GOJIRA’S JOE DUPLANTIER PICKS HIS FAVORITE METAL VIDEOS

Thursday, October 1st, 2009 at 9:30am by

Mere hours before Gojira played the best show of 2009, our friends at Metal Injection interview G to the Jira main man Joe Duplantier, and even got him to pick his favorite metal videos. No shock: the man has good taste. So, needless to say, this is pretty awesome.

Vince’s own interview with Joe should go up sometime next week. You’ll wanna read that, too. Trust me.

SAYING “BEST KEYBOARD BREAKDOWNS” IS LIKE SAYING “BEST INSTANCES OF ANAL RAPE”

Thursday, October 1st, 2009 at 9:00am by

The below video is a collection of the “Best Keyboard/Synthesizer Breakdowns of All Time.” I saw it today on Sergeant D’s Stuff You Will Hate, which is certainly living up to its name. Because, y’know, I always thought “Gee, totally generic breakdowns could really use some irritating keyboards.”

A couple of good groups, like Horse the Band and Veil of Maya, seem to have snuck their way onto the list, but by and large, this stuff is just as terrible as you’d think. And let’s all thank the guy who made this for not even being able to come up with ten different bands to include – Born of Osiris and HTB are both on here twice.

Also, does The Devil Wears Prada really have a song called “Dogs Can Grow Beards All Over?” ‘Cause that would be an adorable sentiment coming from a three year old. A Christian metalcore band, not so much.

FAN FILMED FOOTAGE OF BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME PERFORMING “OBFUSCATION”

Thursday, October 1st, 2009 at 8:30am by

MetalSucks Maniac Corey Scott filmed Between the Buried and Me performing their new song, “Obfuscation,” at a recent gig in Knoxville, TN. The audio and video quality is actually pretty decent, and Corey managed to captured eight of the song’s nine glorious minutes before his camera crapped out. Nice work, Corey!

Of course, nothing matches actually seeing BTBAM live, but it’s pretty thrilling to know that the band can actually pull this shit off.

“Obfuscation” will be on the new BTBAM album, The Great Misdirect, which Victory will release on October 27. The very thought makes me as excited as a little school girl. Some idiot said I was too negative yesterday, so I’d like to say that last part again: The very thought of a new BTBAM album makes me as excited as a little school girl.
