Why don’t I listen to Ihsahn’s angL more often? That shit is hot, yo! It’s epic and melodic and hooky… it’s just a swell record. Damn you, lack of free time! DAMN YOU!!!
In case you’re wondering “Why is Axl talking about this,” it’s because Ihsahn has a new song, “Frozen Lakes on Mars,” currently streaming here (It is not, as far as I can tell, about a Total Recall winter getaway. Bummer.). And I’m listening to it as I type this, and, jeepers, it’s just terrific. Just terrific. That Ihsahn is a helluva guy.
Anyways, I suggest you check it out. It comes off of Ihsahn’s new album, After, which comes out January 26 on Candlelight.
I’m sure we’ll discuss more as that release date grows closer…

You liked Ihsahns solo stuff? By Prometheus I was done with his stuff, but if you say so I will listen when I get home.
I thought angl had some really good stuff but not great overall, this new song sounds really good though def looking forward to the new stuff.
Is angL any better than The Adversary? I didn’t give it a chance because I was disappointed by The Adversary.
The Adversary wasn`t very good, that`s for sure, but it`s like 1000000000 better than AngL. Never really got into Ihsahn`s solo projects.
I didn`t enjoy his mercyful fate rip off but what really made me feel sick was that “will you love me now” song, that is the gayest song ever done by a black metal icon. After that I have listened Angl like three time and it never did anything for me.
Ihsahn is too gay and mellow and Zyklon too raw and bizarre, it seems to me that there is no hope for this people besides from doing Emperor
I’m digging this track, and the use of 8-string guitars adds a lot to the sound.
I quite liked his folk project Hardingrock as well. This song sounds cool, like the 8-string sound, looking forward to new music from Ihsahn!
I absolutely loved both The Adversary and angL. Obviously his work with Emperor influenced me like crazy too. The new song sounds amazing! Can’t wait for After.
