GIVE IT ONE MORE TIME, BOY
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009 at 10:30am by Vince NeilsteinAdd “David Lee Roth on the Eat ‘Em and Smile tour” to the list of tours I’d visit if I had a time machine. The Vai / Sheehan / Bissonette lineup was definitely Diamond Dave’s best… if you disagree, I’m happy to engage in an e-fight to the death.
Here’s that lineup playing “Shyboy” in Detroit in 1986. Skip to 2:10 for the Vai/Sheehan double-shredathon if that’s what you’re in it for… but I can’t imagine why you’d possibly want to miss out on DLR’s stage antics.

Thanks for this! Now is a perfect time for our favorite soundboard recording web page:

Goddamnit baby youknow I aint’ lyingtoya I’m only gonna tellya one timmmeeeahhhyeaaaah!!!
Dude you are so right on with this one!!!!!!! This was my first concert EVER! 100+ concerts later, and this one still stands out as one of the best.
This lineup was a monster. I remember the rumors about it, I was floored when they released the album. Vai and Sheehan together are a musician’s wet dream.
Fucking A!!!!
Having Sheehan and Vai together at the same time your band almost isnt fair to other bands. What a fucking lineup he put together for that one!
This was a GREAT show!
II saw VH for the first time on the 5150 tour…had a chance to see them for 1984, but Mom wouldn’t let me go! lol
VH had Bachman Turner Overdrive opening – WTF?
Then I saw DLR for “Eat ‘Em And Smile” – the band/show completely blew VH out of the water!
I just keep seeing Dave rubbing that mike stand on his ass in Jump. “My name is David Lee Roth, the Rock and Roll Clown. I do cocaine.”
1:59 to 2:03 of original track…best lick ever.
shit yeah! i saw this tour in shreveport lousianna and about pissed myself at the musical extacy coming out of the p.a. if i remember correctly, vai got all of those crazy guitars stolen on this tour. cinderella opened the show.
