MUSTAINE ROCKS THE VOTE

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009 at 11:00am by Axl Rosenberg

It’s election day here in the States, and like many election days, I basically wasted a vote on a candidate who has no chance of winning whatsoever because his opponent had more money and therefore was able to buy more television ads. Gotta love democracy.

So. Here are some old “Rock the Vote” spots with Dave Mustaine and Megadeth. (Young ones who don’t recognize anyone in Megadeth besides Mustaine: that the old, definitive line-up of the band. Do not be frightened.) I seem to recall that Mustaine was also a correspondent for MTV at one of the conventions – Democratic or Republican, I can’t recall – but I can’t find any clips of that.

And, hey, just ’cause why not?, after the jump enjoy Mustaine playing the American national anthem at some MTV charity sports thinger.

Awesome. I play the national anthem on guitar way better than Dave Mustaine. I now have something to be proud of. Oh yeah, that kid I had a couple years ago probably should count too.

He was at the Democratic Conventon, Ted Nugent did the Republican one. Wow, how did I remember that. Dating myself huh?

You’re right, it was the Democratic Convention. I remember that cunt Tipper Gore throwing a fit because Mustaine was there.

so I’m curious: Do you actually have any left-wing candidates to vote on in the good ol’ US of A?

Obama isn’t exactly Reagan my friend. But if you’re talking of good ol’ “watermelon” left, you could always go with the Greens, i guess.

Marty Friedman is beautiful. Just beautiful.

Axl, I take it you’re talking about your mayor ‘race’? I heard Bloomberg spent $85mm of his own money.

Hey Dave, I wrote in Kirk Hammett. How do you feel about that?

You live here in NYC, right Mr. Rosenberg?

Personally, I voted for Joseph Dobrian of the Libertarian party. Better than “Doom and Gloomberg” or Bill Thompson.
