(HIGH ON) FIRE VERSUS FROST (HAMMER)
Thursday, November 5th, 2009 at 4:00pm by Axl RosenbergI’m not entirely sure what a “frost hammer” is – it sounds like the name of a band I wouldn’t like, actually – but it’s apparently the title of a new High on Fire song. You can watch bootleg footage of it being played live below, courtesy Blabbermouth.
Meanwhile, Snakes for the Divine has been announced as the tentative title of HOF’s new album, which will be out on E1 next year. Greg Fidelman, who produced the new Slayer album and worked on Metallica’s Death Mehgnetic, is producing. HOF are doing that whole Dethklok/Mastodon tour right now – if you’ve yet to see Matt Pike shake his flabby shirtless body, definitely go check it out.

Greg Fidelman? Great… I expect this new High On Fire album will be the next innocent victim claimed in the loudness war.
I don’t understand how Fidelman has work
WHo in the world would want to work with this guy after the Death Magnetic abonination?
People still work with Bob Rock after the St Anger abomination.
it’s because bob rock has produced abominations that sold very well. same with fidelman, who also has a really impressive resume as an engineer. slipknot, system of a down, audioslave…um…slayer (he mixed ’soundtrack to the apocalypse’) – even before he started “producing”, he’s worked with quite a few bands who’ve done very well.
@metalguy:
while bob rock produced an abortion, fidelman worked on a record that is seen, largely as a comeback for metallica. i don’t really see what’s so difficult to comprehend about that.
I seriously hope Fidelman isn’t producing this. He’ll ruin it for sure.
High on Fire are awesome live. But i WAS looking forward to the new cd, THEN i saw the producer… FEHK!!!
Celtic *Frost*
Hell*hammer*
Makes sense…can’t wait to hear “Celtic Hell”
Yes, because those are the only things to involve the words “Frost” and “Hammer” ever.
I for one can’t wait to hear M.C. Natter
Can’t wait to HEAR it
Y’know, I wouldn’t be so quick to blame Fidelman for the loudness issues on Death Magnetic. Remember, it was Rick Rubin who produced it, and it’s Rubin that has a long reputation of producing stupid-loud records. Californication by RHCP was so squashed that even regular listeners, not just audiophiles, were complaining about the levels of distortion.
P.S; Yes, I would like to see Matt Pike’s flabby shirtless body. I would like that very much.
I saw matt pike outside the show in albany pulling some white trash tail on his tour bus. awesome
Timbaland could produce and this would still be awesome. Don’t fret, Pike’s not gonna let it sound like shit. HIGH ON FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was wondering what this song was when they played it live. It was great.
