CHRIS ADLER COLLABORATING WITH KIRK HAMMETT

I’ve been aware since the release of The Ashes of the Wake that Metallica’s Kirk Hammett is a Lamb of God fan – Kirk was spotted at that album’s release show at the Roseland Ballroom here in NYC – and I’ve wondered in the past if he wasn’t responsible for LoG suddenly becoming a go-to support act for Metallica.

And, hey, lookit: the above screenshot was taken from Chris Adler’s Facebook page, and reveals that Hammet and Adler are now working together on… something.

But what? Is Hammett helping Adler write some new LoG music? It seems unlikely that Adler is helping Hammett write new Metallica music – are the two collaborating on a new project? Or are they just having fun jamming in the studio?

Hopefully Adler and/or Hammett will issue another update soon. In the meantime, let the fantasizing begin…

Lets hope it’s another “Ashes of the Wake” (Song, although another album would be incredible)

  3. bucketochicken says:

Well. That would certainly be neat.

  4. I’m not sure that’s actually his page on Facebook. Anyone can create a fan page on there for anything. Hell, I made one for Rainier Beer. The extent of the text on his page is in Spanish. I’m not aware of Chris being of Latino descent. I suppose he could have put all of his info in Google Language Tools (or similar) and pasted it as a joke, but I doubt it.

Also, I doubt Chris Adler would refer to himself in the third person as he does on this or be a fan of Supernatural and The CW. If he does, more power to him, but yeah, I doubt it’s his page.

Using “Im” is in the first person im afriad. It may not be his page…but there’s an equally high chance that it is. Would be cool though

That’s the third person I was talking about. I really don’t think it’s his page.

  5. Facebook User says:

Yeah that is definitely not Chris Adler’s page

If this is true I except a lot of plastic-snare and wah pedal.

I just had a thought. Jason Newsted was “fired” because he wanted to do a side project and not solely be a part of Metallica…

  8. SHOCKTROOP says:

I’ve always wondered what it would sound like if Metallica had a drummer who actually knew how to play the drums. Hopefully they’ve fired Lars.

we can all dream can’t we?

Two people from bands that are no longer relevant collaborating together. Should be super.

um, last I checked Wrath was the largest-selling Lamb of God release to date. They also are THE headliner (or co-headline) for every tour they go on (since Sacrament, at least). Lamb of God is one of the most well-respected modern metal bands. If you think that a revolutionary metal outfit is “no longer relevant” simply because its been around for 15 years, you should rethink your taste in music. Maybe a 15-year rule applies to pop, rap, rock, and country, but NOT in metal. Just look at Exodus, they’ve been going strong for 20 years and Atrocity Exhibition was BY FAR their greatest release to date.

Wasn’t the Ashes release show at Irving Plaza? I went to that show, it was the night before the release date, and we all got signed copies. Did they play another show the next day?

  11. Elpants says:

Well YEAH!, it’s probably going YEAH! to suck YEAH!.

  12. cosk! says:

you know the rules, if your in metallica, and you have a side project…….

    …….fired

  13. SonOF says:

Hammett is the only one in Metallica that seems to care about metal (or good music in general) anymore. He also comes across as the only reasonable, down-to-earth dude in the band as well (I’m not counting Trujillo; never really gave him much thought or actually considered him part of Metallica); he and Adler working together can only bring about good things.

  14. Fong Chung says:

Kirk Hammett doesnt give a shit about say: Converge, Nile, Napalm Death, Goatwhore, Pig Destroyer, Decapitated, etc, etc, etc. I know totally different bands, but still he rather blow bands like Lamb of Gay and Limp Jizkit well ok Lamb of Pantera and Limp Jizkit are pretty much the same band. Just different decades.

  15. metalguy says:

They fired Newsted because i dont think they ever really liked him to start with, and considered him expendable. Metallica (and their fans) probably hold Kirk in too high regards to kick him out for jamming with friends

Ashes of the Wake not The Ashes of the Wake…jesus christ.
