SUICIDE SILENCE’S “GENOCIDE” DESERVES A COOLER VIDEO

Monday, November 9th, 2009 at 11:30am by Axl Rosenberg

Even in my youth I hated those intercut-performance-footage-with-movie-footage soundtrack tie-in videos, and Suicide Silence’s clip for “Genocide” shows that these types of videos haven’t gotten any better since then. I like the song and I like the band, I just think this is a lame video. But, hey, if it gets a few Saw fans into Suicide Silence…

    ..i kinda liked it.
but i guess I’m the only metalhead with poor enough movie tastes to be a fan of this franchise.

    • Seconded, that guitar tone in the intro was just awful, and the sound of the drums was obnoxious as well. As for the rest of the song…well, I didn’t make it that far, but I doubt it was much better.

It is becoming harder and harder to defend these guys. Them doing music videos for torture porn franchises pretty much takes the cake. If I want a good dose of torture porn I don’t want to watch a Suicide SIience video to see it, I want to go to Denmark where my torture porn needs are met daily and nightly and ever so rightly.

I love the sound of their drummer’s kit.

There is waaay worse shit out there…
    S.S. rulez…

  5. groverXIII says:

I’m impressed… they almost made it halfway through the song before having to resort to a breakdown.

    Yeah, Suicide Silence blows.

The logic of the “Dethcore” lynch mob tickles me in the most tender of areas on my person . . .

“Perhaps If we keep ritualistically commenting on posts for the bands we don’t like with zealot-like fervor then maybe someday someone will take our opinions actually as a matter of fact!”

Deathcore is fine if done well (e.g. The Black Dahlia Murder). Suicide Silence just happens to be very mediocre and in a genre that’s adding more bands every day mediocre isn’t going to cut it.

BDM is not deathcore. Have you even heard Deflorate?

Shitty video for a shitty song by a shitty band, big surprise. I can’t wait til their 15 minutes is up.

The BlackDahlia Murder is fucking awesome their new album was melodic death metal same with their Nocturnal, they aren’t deathcore.

The song was okay minus the singing and drumming i only listened to the first 30 seconds and couldn’t listen to anymore after that. The drumming was annoying same with the singing.

The best song on the album.

  8. Master Chah says:

The saw movies are pretty lame. After the first, more Saw movies were completely unnecessary. Concerning the music, I just don’t like the breakdowns because it hurts me to find out that they can make money off these “brutal breakdowns” that I could’ve written after 4 months of playing guitar.

So yeah it was pretty shitty music over a pretty shitty video

Two things. First, that snare drum sounds like Lars Ulric’s on some kind of monster. And Second, aparently the person that directed this video has no knowledge of musical instruments what-so-ever, because 95% of the video the drums didn’t match what he was playing at all, and I even noticed it on the guitar too. This has always driven me crazy in music videos. MAKE SURE WHERE THEY ARE IN THE VIDEO ALWAYS MATCHES WHERE THEY ARE IN THE MUSIC, HOW HARD IS THAT?

    Quit bitchin about Suicide Silence…

  11. hayisforhorses says:

BS you guys rip on oceano and then profess to enjoy this garbage just saying is all.

New death metal id go for some dead congregation, teitanblood, diphago or necrovation not this limp toss.

  12. Matt Kraatz says:

Pretty shitty timing if they’re trying to promote Saw VI.
