WESTERN WEEKEND NACHOS
Monday, November 9th, 2009 at 3:30pm by Axl RosenbergI’ve never seen Weekend Nachos live, but I would very much like to someday. Relapse Records – who have had a fucking AMAZING 2009* -put out their album Unforgivable earlier this year, and it kills. If the band can do anything to re-create that energy in a live setting, I bet bucket loads of blood, sweat, and healthy releases of raw aggression will ensue.
The band is setting out on a tour at the end of the month, and, just my luck, it’s not coming close to New York – most of the dates are out west. But I implore you to go see Weekend Nachos if you can, so that I can live vicariously through you, my beloved readers.

*With all due respect to all the other labels that did excellent work this year, I think you could reasonably make a year-end top ten list just from Relapse’s ‘09 output. Off the top of my head, they put out new records by Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Baroness, Black Anvil, Brutal Truth, Burnt by the Sun, Coalesce, Revocation, Rumpelstiltskin Grinder, the aforementioned Weekend Nachos, and probably a bunch more shit I’m forgetting. And they were all awesome. Good job, guys and girls.

profound lore was the best label in 09 imo
You forgot Obscura. They released a helluva record this year
YABBA DABBA DOO, WE’RE WEEKEND NACHOS
that’s how they should open their set.
Yes they are a great live band. I’ve seen them twice and it was worth every penny.
Guy’s wearing a Floorpunch shirt, since I have no idea what this band sounds like I am now mildly interested.
i have that same shirt! i cut the sleeves off of mine though, gotta show off the bitchin’ sweet guns.
Yes, I absolutely love this band! Just my luck too, they aren’t coming my way :-(
Dec 12th baby. Finally some heavy music coming through University of Illinois!
How bout Dying Fetus and the aforementioned Obscura? both had excellent records this year
god damn it this band goes so hard
I might go see them one of the IL shows
I like weekend nachos but they just sound too much like Sheer Terror for me to LOVE them. Don’t get me wrong Sheer Terror is awesome but it feels like I have heard it before… I heard they fucking rip live though.
Heard this band was fucking awesome live. I’m really dissappointed they aren’t coming to ohio. hopefully this tour goes really well and they’ll come here soon.
Weekend Nachos sounds like Sheer Terror?
The vocals bro
Ghost House, here I come. OH LAWD
coalesce was the only good one on that list…
I can say firsthand, as I’ve seen them 3 times now in Chicago and at Dudefest, that they are awesome and really kill shit in a live setting. I’ve never participated in a more violent pit in my entire life. I swear it rivals a Slayer pit.
hmmm. swear ive seen flyers of shows for this band here in milwaukee. i thoughrt they were a local band…hmmm confused….
THEY’RE LOCAL IN MY TOWN!
Oh shit… Chicago… HELL YES
I saw these guys back when I was attending NIU at this place called The Rodeo. They opened up for FBTMOF believe it or not. Weekend Nachos killed it.
The only Relapse release of 2009 that’s on my shopping list is Mumakil’s Behold The Failure. I’m undecided on Brutal Truth’s one, and I liked Weekend Nachos’ output on that crappy Kill Fascists comp. I’ve heard that Nirvana 2002 were good, so I’ll investigate them an’ all.
